Even if he does come home, I would never force him to stay inside. He's meant to be outdoors. I think it's a bit cruel to leave cats inside.

I think it is cruel to allow your pet outside unsupervised, free to get poisoned, hit by a car, killed by other animals (including humans). You are the cat's guardian and protector. Would you allow your three year old child out to roam the streets too?
