Yes, call the humane society to see if there is a nursing momma there that can take over care for this kitten. That is the best thing for it.
Glad to hear you are taking this kitten to the vet today. Kittens will dehydrate very quickly and I am wondering why the vet didn't want to see this kitten immediately???
