I just saw this heartwarming story about a stowaway cat named Bandit who got into a small storage compartment of a moving van and hitchhiked from Victoria to Winnipeg. Bandit is one lucky cat.
VICTORIA -- A Cook St. Village cat took the trip of a lifetime, by hopping on a moving van that drove halfway across the country. The Gundersons, a military family from the Comox Valley, were re-posted to Winnipeg, and when their moving van stopped in Victoria, Bandit the cat hitched a ride.
The driver didn't realize the cat had crawled into a small storage compartment until he stopped in Regina. He then cleaned the cat up, and let it sit in the front seat the rest of the ride. Now close to 1900 km away from home, the Gundersons went to the Winnipeg Humane Society for help. There they found Donna Allen who began posting adds for the lost cat on Facebook and www.victorialostpets.com
Within days, Bandit's owners were in contact. The cat is now on its way back to Victoria via airplane, thanks to a couple who were returning to the Capital Region for their wedding.
Bandit is expected to be reunited with his real family soon, after a fur raising adventure.
