Two mystery warblers that we think we might have finally ID'd.
We think this first one is a first fall blackpoll warbler, looking totally unlike the spring adults:
The white eye stripe threw me on this one, but we're pretty confident (by the undertail covert and tail projection pattern) that it's a first fall orange-crowned warbler.
I've also learned this year that dogwood berries taste yummy to more than just robins and catbirds. I've seen warblers, vireos, downy woodpeckers and even white-throated sparrows eating them:
