Are they pileateds, Melinda? They can really put up a ruckus! But even the little ones have their moments. Last year I was sure I was hearing pileateds on the power poles--they were soooooo loud. But when I finally tracked down the culprits it turned out to be downy woodpeckers and sapsuckers banging on the metal guards on the tops of the poles!
