Hi everyone,

Leo update #2

Leo is still on the mend. While he's not in the same type of pain he was in yesterday, he's definitely not 100%. I'm hoping that he's just slowly recovering from an injury, and that its not something...

After laying around all morning like an invalid, we managed to coax our creaky and stiff hound into the car for a visit to the vet. As soon as we got to the vet, however, Leo made a miraculous...

Thanks Mumum. I'll give that a go. We have managed to coax Leo back to his bed and he's resting quietly. Still hasn't eaten, which is VERY unlike him.

I hope the vet can determine the problem.

Large dog having neck pain

Hi, My 95 lb bluetick coonhound Leo seems to be in pain. He got up and shook his head around, like he does every morning, and yelped and cried in pain. I've checked his ears and he lets me pull and...

My bluetick coonhound bawls and bays at all the dogs at the dog park whenever we go, pretty much the entire time we're there. I think its just his way of engaging the other dogs. Like aslan said,...

Thanks for the input. I don't know where I heard that it should only be used as a training tool - you're right, Gentle Leader certainly doesn't advertise it that way... Well, we will continue to use...

Many say that hounds are difficult to train. My findings have been that, Leo has been very easy to TEACH commands to - he's very intelligent and a real quick study. However, getting him to OBEY the...

coonhounds off leash

We have, unfortunately, had zero success with off-leash training with Leo. He is just not inclined to come when called (unless I have a steak in my hand) and simply can not be trusted off leash. I...

There have been 3 instances in the 1.5 years that we've had our hound dog Leo, where his head seems to shake uncontrollably for about 2-3 minutes. It almost looks like he has Parkinsons or something...
