I like the concept of Halo and it is certainly a better choice food than the majority of commercial foods on the market - the one thing that I don't like is that they use ingredient splitting on...

My preference is to real meat over a meal so of the two listed my first choice would be #1 - I do get the whole argument of meat containing the water therefore making it easier to list as #1...

Hi there,

I certainly share your concern regarding MSG - from a personal standpoint though - I have epilepsy and MSG is one of the triggers so I avoid it at all costs. One thing to point out...

I've been using CaniSource for my Katie for several years now and she's doing amazing on it. I do agree that Raw is the best option - but for my personal situation, it's not feasible. CaniSource is a...

Just a quick comment about the weight gain on CaniSource, I know from experience that the guidelines on the box are a bit high (most dog foods are this way). If your dog gains weight, simply reduce...

you get what you pay for

This is a great thread! One of the biggest things I've discovered as a pet owner is how uneducated we can be and how easy it is to believe marketing ploys of the big companies. I'll be sharing this...

I think I need to apologize. I am in no means trying to bash Orijen. I was a very uneducated consumer a long time ago and fed Katie regular commercial dog foods. After 5 years, she started developing...

The thing to keep in mind is that there is no definition (as far as pet food labeling goes) for "human grade" or "table quality" - they are nice rosy terms but there is no actual definition to...

Just want to mention in regards to protein that meat doesn't equal 100% protein - there's a lot more stuff in it than just solid protein. There's also fat and moisture. A high protein diet (like...

Your comment about most commercial dog food companies being marketing machines is bang on. It's so hard to know what to believe. In regards to Orijen's ingredients, I had actually called to talk to...

CaniSource

I feed a dehydrated raw diet called CaniSource. It's the best I've found as it is processed at a very low temperature so the original nutrients are in tact. My dog LOVES it so much that I can even...

Corky/Max

Just to clarify - Orijen does use human grade fresh meat - but makes no claim to the rest of the ingredients that go into it. So to say they use ONLY human grade ingredients is...

I feed CaniSource to Katie (and have been for two years now) and feel it is definitely better for the following reasons - first of all - it is 70% beef and only 15% grains combined (rice, oats, &...
