It does look like she ate something that didn't get digested. Definitely check around and see if you can find something that's been chewed, but you probably won't need a vet if your dog is otherwise...

Not familiar with Vancouver, but until you can find a mentor, another option might be to check out some youtube videos. That's how I learned to do our dogs' nails. A vet tech at the vet you use...

Is there much heartworm incidence in your area? The risks might still outweigh the dangers, especially since Mollie has already developed SARDS. :shrug: It's just such a tough decision!
