Raccoon trouble

We have coons in our backyard and now they are getting into our garbage. I do not want to hurt them but no matter what, they find a way to get into it. Any suggestions on how I can deter them to leave my property alone?

Want jag lol..how about building a box with a lid that will latch to put the garbage in till it goes to the roadside

I could do that I guess. It would be pretty simple. I have some wood and it would not take too much. I will have to see what I can come up with.

I would not made it too simple, raccoons are good at opening things up like this raccoon was able to do.

I hate these bandits they infest if not controlled. I lost my turtles to these greedy eaters. I had to call Hawkeye Birds & Animals Control Specialists to get rid those coons.

Try laying some mothballs around as well, it usually works.

I saw an ad for trash bag that smelled like mint to keep raccoon away from the trash cans . Mothballs are very toxic , it would be best to tape them inside of the covers so they can't get into the soil.
