Satin balls question

i would like some info. on Satin Balls. I know several people have tried and or use them. i have a very thin small breed dog, that is presently nursing 3 very big almost 4 weeks old puppies. Can i give Satin balls to a nursing dog and could it possibly give her the runs?? Could the raw meet give her puppies diarrhea?
I've been all over the internet with this question....but i still can't find an answer to my question.
Any info. or thoughts would be appreciated
Thanks!

Fosterpat I am pretty sure that Frenchy gave those to her Nelly when she had her pups cause she was pretty thin. She will likely be stopping by and be able to give you some info....awe puppies.....:cloud9:

Hi Fosterpat !

Yes like Winston stated , Nelly was on Satin Balls , and also some other skinny fosters I had in the past. But Nelly wasn't nursing at the time (she never did :() so I can't answer the question about the puppies. :(

It didn't give Nelly the runs. I was feeding her kibble twice a day , and would wait 2-3 hours after the kibble meal, to give her a satin ball. If you feed kibble and raw too close apart , it can create stomach upset. I take it you took the satin balls recipe here ?

that poor momma , I know first hand how hard it is for them to take care of their pups when they're underweight themselves. :(

Good luck with all of them. :goodvibes: Pm me if you have any questions about the satin balls.

I don't know for sure if it's safe or not but I would err on the side of caution and not feed them.

Is she getting puppy kibble now? I would feed that and add cooked hamburger and scrambled eggs to help keep weight on her.

Thanks Frenchy.....the mom already had trouble getting her bowels on track, so i don't think i'll try the Satin balls before speaking to a vet this week.
Still trying to figure out a way to put weight on her. She only has 3 pups, but their combine weight, is almost has much as their mom's total weight and they're only 4 weeks old today!! The pups are being fed 4 meals a day to help the mom out...so she's only nursing them about 4 times a day....gradually weaning. But still not putting on any weight and still too thin! Guess i'll wait and see what the vet says this week.
Thanks again for your help!
