Can Dogs have gravol when they are on meds?
My Dog has parvo , he has been to the vet and is on medication but he is having a hard time keeping the meds and water down , can i give him gravol ?

I wouldn't give him anything more without talking to a vet, Rebecca. You don't want to risk giving him something that would react badly with the meds he's on--and the vet may have a better suggestion for something to help him keep the meds and water down. Is there an e-vet you can call?

Thanks for the help!

Gravol is not the best of the antiemetics (antivomiting medication) for parvo. Gravol is dimenhydrinate and is also known as Dramamine. Prescription Cerenia by your veterinarian would be my first choice for most parvo patients. Metoclopramide (reglan) and Zofran (Ondansetron) are also used. Also is your pet on Tamiflu (oseltamivir)? It is an antiviral medication that can be gotten by prescription at a human pharmacy. It can help increase survival to parvo and can help minimize the clinical signs. I wish the best for your puppy.:pawprint: |
