ppl who believe breed Myths while owning the breed.
 

i usually keep my Rants and what not deep inside in a chest thats locked.. but Today i totally want to punch some one out. First it starts with people saying dog that Karma doesn't have any pitty in her at all. and she looks border collie(just cause of her colouring). When i say she does but she probably a mix even though my brother was told she was a purebred. well anyways then i talk about how Nyx and Karma when playing can get a bit rough and you can totally tell theres terrier in her, they give me like OMG looks and look at her differently..(which i am used to with my choice of dogs). But what set me off to today was my mom friend over and mom was acting like she was going to hit Karma with a pillow while she was laying in my lap(NOTE: my mom wouldnt actaully hit the dog), well i missed my moms friend comment and then she said it again. the comment that pissed me off is the LOCKJAW that all pitbull breeds have. so when i told her they don't lock their jaws she made a comment about how her son gf said they do... OK they people Just got a pitty from the SPCA and they are believe the myths about the breed...
I will admit that the pitty breeds will hold on and not let go of what they have but then again any dog will do that also.

My mom is seeing how i am getting worked up over the fact that people believe this stuff when you own a breed. My family knows my love for dogs and how i can't stand when people believe the worse in a dog with out meeting it.
I know people go into the spca all the time n just see a cute dog and think what a great pet and don't see the breed or could careless. but people should really find out what they can about what the dog could be mixed with and know facts or myths.

Pitbull can hold on for a long time because of the shape of their face , their jaws are very powerful but I never heard of the jaw locking on

there a myth that they lock their jaw and u cant get them to let go and you have to at times kill the dog to get them to let go. you think about it though police and military and protection dogs are trained to bite n hold on and to not let go until they are released off of what they have bite.. they have done bite test and the pit bull type don't have a strong as some breeds the police use.


I can say this all pitty(type as many fall under the pitty term) mixes and purebreds that i met are all great family dogs. ya some aren't sure of other dogs but the owners even admit its there fault for not having them more social as a pup but are working on and the dogs are doing great.

I just looked up do 'pit bull have strong jaws ' and found mixed opinions about the pit bull dog having jaw that 'lock ' . There are some the think is a myth and others that think it true. More black dogs are put down as people believe the myth about black dogs being aggressive . I think there is some kind of myth about most breeds of dogs no matter what they look like. '
My dog was attacked by a Corgi mix and that dog would not let go of my dog when I hit it with my cane. Any dog is able to bite and hold on . I saw 2 polices with their dogs at a park showing people how they train their dog. One cop had his dog 'attack' his arm and then gave the dog a demand to release and the dog did so. The second cop had his dog attack his arm then he gave the demand to release and his dog did not let go. The cop had to kick his dog to let go. I thought OMG what if that dog attack a person and his trainer can't get him to let go. Both dogs where German Shepherd and , and the dog that had to be kicked off his trainer arm did nothing wrong , it was his trainer fault for not knowing how to handle his own dog. He was not in command of his dog.

The bully breeds are known to chomp down and hold on. They can let go when they want to. If they couldn't every such dog you ever saw in a photo of it happily swinging by it's jaws from a tire swing would need the fire department to cut it loose. Other breed individuals can do it too. My Lab does it when we play tug. :) Till I tell him, GIVE.

I wonder if there is some kind of record time for tire swinging?

My last dog a Standard Poodle would do the same too when I played tug of war with him , Finlay would hold on as long as felt like it. That police dog would not let go of the cop's arm, the dog was hanging and that cop was really kicking the dog in his ribs. I was shocked watching that happen .

ya its kind of scary when handler can't control their dogs, more so police and you got to think the police and army and all that are trained to hold on even when its being hit and what not.
but i totally bet that police officer and his dog totally went back to training right away to make sure everything working out.
