Hey pitbull people!

This person is on a raw feeding support & discussion group I'm on...what do you think of her dogs?

Go to the "weight pulling" photos, they're awesome!
I'm just kind of impressed by these folks & their attitude towards their dogs, they seem like neat people & wonderful dogs too.

Oh what a pleasure to look at that site!:) I just love to see correct looking pit bulls pullin'!!

Someone who does weightpull with his dogs just joined our forum - as soon as he posts his pics I'll link them. You would love to see his dogs. 35-50lb firecrackers, and not ONE huge, blue Neo mix mutt among them.

Thanks Carina - great site!

Hehe! I just KNEW you'd be along LR! :)

Glad you thought so, I respect your opinion in all things pitbull. :) I think they are awesome looking dogs, & it's so cool to see them enjoying work like that!

I did weightpulling a few times with a Rottie I had. He got up to 4-500lbs & then couldn't see the POINT in that whole deal! The Malamutes & Huskies half his size (he was 115lbs, very fit) were just blowing him out of the water and he couldn't care less. So we picked up our toys and went home. :D

Oh those pits are turly gorgeous!

chico2 March 18th, 2004 05:05 PM

I agree!!!!Since I joined here,I have certainly changed my mind about pitts,it would be good if for once we could read in the newspaper about what a wonderful dog a pit-bull can be.

Lucky Rescue March 18th, 2004 07:48 PM

Oh there are stories in the papers about wonderful pit bulls, but the media chooses not to put those stories in the headlines.

Not long ago, a pit bull saved a 7 yr old who was being mauled by two Akitas.

The latest concerned a pit bull who saved a child from a fire. But the headline merely said "Dog Saves Boy". You can bet if the dog had bitten the boy, the breed would have been identified.

Anyway, here are some great stories.:)

Lucky, some wonderful stories, but tears are running down my face, most of these dogs are gone:(
I am such a big sopp:o
I was not aware they could live as long as 16yrs+.
My husband and I would like to get a dog when,or if we move to the country, but always thought a bigger dog who lives only 8-9 short years would be very sad, since time at our age flies.
But that is still very much in "should we shouldn't we"stages, moving that is..

Lucky Rescue March 18th, 2004 09:22 PM

Yes, pit bulls can be very long lived. Someone I know just lost his at age 17!:)

Luba March 18th, 2004 10:12 PM

Amazing site Carina, great stuff as always

Those dogs look amazing!

Carina March 18th, 2004 11:21 PM

I guess I never thought about how long lived they were!
I read somewhere that pitbulls were once called "nanny dogs" in Britain because they were regarded as being such good dogs with children.
I read somewhere that pitbulls were once called "nanny dogs
Actually, those were Staffordshire Bull Terriers!:) But "Petey" (of the old "Our Gang" show) was a pit bull, and I've seen many many old photos of kids and pit bulls together.

I'll see if I can dig some of them up.:)

Awww those are so good of stories.

Lucky Rescue March 20th, 2004 12:51 AM

Warning: Lots of pop ups.

Carina March 20th, 2004 07:01 AM

Cool! I love how muscular those dogs are.
I have a pop-up blocker. ;)

I should look at some pics to compare Staffies & APBTs, I can't always tell them apart... :o

Lucky Rescue March 20th, 2004 10:28 AM

You aren't the only one who can't tell them apart - hence the constant misidentification. I see rescues who have pit bulls listed as Staffy Bulls!

Here's a good site to show and tell the differences and similarities between pit bulls, AmStaffs and Staffy Bulls!
