SLR lens tech question

so who knwos their SLR inside and out??

My Sigma lens from my digi cam when I turn it sometimes it gets stuck. For example if i want to zoom from 80mm to 28mm, it gets stck between 50mm and 28mm. And if I force it it feels like there;s something keeping it from moving.

I did a little experiement. When thsi happens if I take the lens out and put it back in sometimes it gets unstuck. But the lens off the camera is still stuck when I turn the zoom.

Considering this camera has been dropped off the couch and shaken up a bit in my bike basket, :o ......would this be an issue with the lens being busted or the camera body where the lens connects?? I'm lost here, but I'm 95% it may be just the lens.

anyone else had this issue?

When did you buy the sigma lens? I just sent mine back through Simon's Cameras on St Antoine (corner St Laurent). It's $135 for them to look at it and tune it up and extra for anything else. Mine came back a month later all fixed up and somehow (after over 10 years) in their database, I was still under warranty and didn't even pay the $135. Might be worth it to try.

Kevin at Simon's knows his stuff and always helps me out.:)

a few years ago. I don't know exactly how long.

And for now i can't pay to fix it. Bit of a debt issue :o Credit cards are evil I tell you!

I'll keep that information handy for when it completely stops focusing. thanks Prin :)

You could always go ask and see what they say. I would omit the whole throwing it around part though.;)

no it won't get thrown away. It's still in good condition, minus this small thing
