Poor little FLoyd

Hi everyone, I just thought I'd let you all know about this........

I bought a house!! yeah for me! :) Anyway, the lady I bought from, apparently couldn't or didn't want to take her betta with her when she moved.... So, she left him behind, without mentioning it to me .... I just inherited him with the house....
His tank was so dirty you could barely see him, and his color was almost black! I named him (Floyd) and cleaned his tank with tepid, filtered water... rinsed the roots of the peace lily that lives with him, and washed the rocks and pebbles... I also started feeding him Betta pellets.

You'll all be happy to know he is now Blue and Red, postures his fins nicely, and swims around happily :)
He sits in the middle of my dining room table and watches me anytime I sit at the table ... I think he's thankful for being abandoned after all :D

Hi there,
I just wanted to mention, make sure the betta
has room at the surface to come up for air.
Bettas are labyrinth fish and must have access to air at all times.
He looks very nice. try to keep him a warm location as bettas
love warm water (think 80F)
Even better, grab a 5-10g tank for him, give him a filter, light,
and some plants, and some tetras to chase
Try to vary his diet. Frozen Bloodworms, Pellets, Shrimp Pellets, Flakes,
Spirulina Flakes etc. Bettas are very prone to constipation, so feeding the
same thing day after day can cause problems with their bowels.
Way to go on saving him! Hes gorgeous!

He's beautiful,thank's for saving him!
I don't don't what's wrong with people, thinking a fish is not important...his life is very important to him!!
We had a fad a while ago, where you gave a vase with plants and a Betta as gifts,a friend of mine got one, bought no food, stupidly thinking he would live off the plantmaterial...and of course he died
They are beautiful little creatures,so wjranch enjoy your new little pet

Yes, that fad is still going strong around here. Flower shops are selling the poor little buggers in tiny little vases with HUGE peace lilies (all root, no room for fish)
I do have about 3/4 of an inch of space between the water level and the cup that holds the lily. I have also been looking for a bigger tank for him. I had tried years ago to keep fish, they died ... almost weekly. I kept putting new ones in, testing the water, feeding properly... blah blah blah... no use, they died. I found out later it was the tank I had, the silicone stuff holding it together was contaminating the water on the poor little guys :( I didn't know.
But, Floyd will benefit from all of your guys's good advice :) He'll be a happy betta.
Thanks :thumbs up
