how much food and how often?

I am fostering five six week old kittens and their mother right now and they are being kept in one of my bedrooms as the mother is feral and none of them have been vaccinated yet (kittens will be vaccinated this weekend, however). The kittens have pretty much all stopped nursing but i am not sure how often i should be feeding them and how much. I leave dry chicken soup for the kitten lover's soul out all the time, and they do eat it (a lot of it!), but what about the canned food? Right now i put out a can of wellness kitten food every morning and every night but i'm not sure if i should be putting out more or maybe even trying to feed them canned food three times a day? The wellness kitten food comes in those smaller cans and the label says to feed based on how much they weigh, but i can't really seperate them when they eat. Also, what about their mom? She has been on kitten food too, for nursing, but i don't think there is any sense in trying to switch her back over to adult food, since she will be sharing the room with her babies for at least another two to three weeks and will most likely just eat their food anyway. Is that alright?

Confused Also

Wow, I Really Don't Know What To Say About That. My Cat Is Pregnant And Expecting Soon And I Don't Really No To Much About Feedings And How Much And How Often. I Would Really Like To See What Others Have To Say About This Though.

amber, are you keeping the kittens with the mother still?

My 2 cats were adopted at 8 weeks. We got Casper first, then 6 months later we adopted Winnie, also at 8 weeks.Casper was fed 3 times a day with canned and dry put down for snacking. Now the amount I gave them was only a less of a teaspoon.I only gave them that small amount for the reason being is just incase of any reactions to the wet.For example, the runs or puking due to a sensitive tummy.Casper is now 22 months old and Winnie is 16 months old.And they are still getting canned 3 times a day.

Here are some links that may hekp you.

Mona, thanks a lot for the links! Yes, the babies are still being kept with their mother...they were actually still nursing occasionally until just recently. I will ask the vet that works with our rescue when i take them to get vaccinated this weekend....the other people involved in the rescue are not always all that knowledgable, unfortunately.....they didn't even have the mother on kitten food when i took her and her babies in,for example. Thanks again, Mona!

Tricia, good luck with your babies....this is the first time i have had kittens around and it has definitely been a learning experience! It is a lot of fun though, so enjoy having them around, they grow up so fast :)
