A Newbie and desperate

I have a 7 yr old male cat-overweight (19lbs) He's always been quite affectionate and relatively docile. Of late- he has not been eating, although not drinking excessively either but appears to be gaining weight. He has become larthargic-wanting to be by himself and often snarls when I try to pet him(his purr used to kick in the second I picked him up).He walks low to the ground and then just flops,so to speak. I have had him to our vet,who did check for diabetes as well as conducting a series of blood tests-with no results as to what could be causing this condition. I would greatly welcome and appreciate any suggestions on what I can possibly do to get my RJ back to himself.Thank you.

What about his thyroid. Get a second opinion or a referral to a specialist in case it is something that needs to be treated asap.

Yeah I agree with 4thedogs. Go back for more tests, or get a second opinion.

I agree, the behaviour alone would worry me. Maybe you could call your vet, and if he is still wandering in the wilderness, you could go for a second opinion. What are you feeding him?

Maybe he snarls at you when you pet him cause something hurts? i would get a second opinion or have moret tests done. keep us posted!
