Cat with a rattle snake tail???
 

One of my cats, Chloe whos a tortishell, 7 months old, does this weird thing sometimes.
I mostly notice it when she follows me into the bathroom.
She always goes to the same spot in the bathroom which is almost right in front of me, back end against the wall.
She will march with her back feet only and shakes her tail like a rattle snake.
What is she doing??? lol

damn i have no idea i know a lot of cats like bathrooms how about she trying to dig a spot for ya?

Does she ever spray when she does this? She could be trying to mark "her" territory. That is one thing the rattly tail means. I will see if I can track down a site for you..........

I can't remember. She's fixed, right? Just watch for that when she is a little older. She may start spraying for real.

Duffy :rip: :cat: used to do that all the time when she sprayed outside and she was spayed.

She also used to do that with her tail while sitting in the litterbox to start the flow of urine for normal peeing, but when outside peeing in grass/soil she didn't.

That's what cat's do when they spray urine to mark something. Some cats go thro the motion but don't squirt anything, so hope it's like that.

Yep, I am lucky that my neutered male 11 yr old cat just goes through the motions. People freak out when he decides to do it to their leg--but nothing comes out, he just signals his possessiveness, lol.

Yup, they do it to mark stuff. Even females will back up against walls and spray. Better make sure nothing is going on that wall, cuz you may need to start cleaning :p.

Its definitely the spraying motion. I smelt the wall and nothing must have not have came out!
I've only ever seen her do it in the bathroom, weird. Do you think that maybe its because she can smell my urine?- Even though I'm her owner she feels like she needs to mark her territory because she thinks this is what I'm doing???

Yes Chloe has been fixed. I really hope she doesn't start spraying :yuck:

All of ours - the girls and the quads - shake their tails from time to time. The girls mostly. So far, I haven't found that they actually sprayed - hope I never do. And now that you mention it, CHLOE AND ZOE, it does happen mostly when they follow me into the bathroom. Funny.

I would think they are smelling the urine in the air. Their noses are so much more sensitive than ours. If she ever does start spraying I would not be allowing her to follow you into the washroom. JMO
