The article makes a good point though . . . if you can't sue for "loss of companionship" for a human, why can you be successful for a dog?

You can sue for loss of companionship for the loss of a spouse, but not a child.

you can sue for wrongful death in either case.

so far, you can only sue for the 'purchase value' of a dog.

It's about time someone trys to get courts to admit that pets are not property, they are companions.
