FIP - please help!!!!
I'm a crazy mom and love my baby until death but unfortunately I've been suffering a tragic drama with this horrendous disease called FIP....
Earlier this year, we bought a beautiful Persian kitten, and he came very sick to us. After several months of treatment, he passed away due to this awful disease. Back then, we didn't know what FIP was, we didn't even know it existed. After our kitten passed, we researched about FIP, talked to a lot of veterinarians and e-mailed some people outside our country, because we wanted and needed to learn more. We barely had time to receive the answers to our questions, almost a month after we've lost out kitten, another one of our cats became ill.We had rescue him from a shelter and he was a really special soul.... Only three weeks later, he also passed. He was 2 years old(in the day he gone!) and absolutely healthy cat. Besides emotionally destroyed and heart brooked, now we are in panic because our others cat's....we need to protect then!We can't let then get sick!!! After many internet research,I discover that FIP is a mutation of the FcoV which occurs in some individuals who develop FIP -it's a really big risk, the proportion is 1 in each 10 cats!!!the emotional breaks, stress and healthy disease give the start to the FcoV mutate to FIP. FOR THE LOGIC THE ONLY CATS THAT ARE SECURE ABOUT HAVING FIP IS THE CATS FREE OF FcoV........(but most of cats have the virus, including mine!) so,the million dollar question is: IS POSSIBLE TO A CAT GET RID OF FcoV ??? HOW CAN WE HELP HIM TO TO THAT?SPECIALLY IN A MULTI CAT HOUSE...... We continued our online research and we found some alternative to boost the cat's immunologic system and some of then promises to help the cat system eliminate the FcoV virus from their organism...... - INTERFERON OMEGA FELINE - MEGA C PLUS - BARLEY GREEN - TRANSFERS FACTOR PLUS If someone could help me and my babies with this,we will be tremendously grateful.... :grouphug: god bless all |
I'm sorry for your loss  I really don't know much about FIP even though I have heard of it before. I don't believe at this point there is anything you can do. Your other cats have probably already been exposed. Depending on the time frame, they probably would have shown symptoms by now if the virus mutated. I think the only thing you can do is completely sanitize everything. And give the cats a bath as well if that is possible. That would remove any virus' living on their coat, which I've been told can happen. Wash everything with a bleach and water solution; the litter box, the food bowls... wash their bedding and clean their toys or buy them new. Proper sanitation is just good to keep in mind in a multi-cat house hold.
I have 9 cats and I foster kittens and recently had an FeLV scare. I had a litter of kittens I rescued from outback, but already was fostering 2 other litters so I took them to the shelter. They had to be euthanized a few weeks later because they tested positive for FeLV. Then I had to get my cats tested to make sure the virus didn't somehow get in the house! So I can understand how you feel. Hopefully someone else will come along with more useful information. Take care though :grouphug: |
I had a cat die of this about 15 years ago. She was our only cat, and our vet said it is something that can lie dormant in them for years, before something triggers it. Highly contagious!
We were told to throw out all of her bedding, bowls, litterbox, toys etc., javex all areas she used in the house, and wait a minimum of 3 months before bringing another cat into the home. My sympathies are with you ... it was a terrible way for a friend to go. :grouphug: |
thank u very much for your help!
actually 40% of the cats are exposed to corona-virus FcoV and 75%of the cats from a mult-cat house are exposed to the virus! of this % 1 in each 10 cats will develop the mutation and get FIP. The primary way to contract the virus is feces and sometimes saliva (because their groom their fur) Is pretty sure my cats has FcoV as many other cats, but when can try to "remove" the virus from their system. The cats actually use to do that when their immunologic system is working properly but in a multi cat house they do this process but they became REINFECTED by the other cats feces and this cycle never ends......so u need to isolate the cats who got clean. What I'm desperate looking for is mechanisms to boost the immunologic system and make it work good and fast to be able to negative the FcoV in their system! It is the only way to avoid a cat to get FIP! so,kat,I also have some cats from shelters, and if u help with foster home,it probably means that u are volunteer or have a close contact with some shelter, right? I'm asking u this because u should look for some alternatives to try to boost the cats immunologic system. There's actually many supplements which look for a breeder or a shelter to try, obvious it is valid only it the supplement is harmless to the cats healthy and only can bring benefits and not any king of damage at all!!! HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF THIS KIND OF ALTERNATIVE TREATMENT THAT I'M SUGGESTING U COULD TRY AT SHELTER.THERE'S ,I COPY THIS FROM THE MEGA C PLUS DESCRIPTION: ***PLEASE NOTE THAT I'M NOT SAYING U SHOULD USE THIS SPECIFIC PRODUCT,I'M JUST USING THIS PRODUCT AS AN EXAMPLE!LIKE THIS THERE'S OTHERS FEW PRODUCT WITH THIS IMMUNOLOGIC BOOST INTENT*** "I formulated Mega C Plus that contained all of the known nutrients to have a positive effect on the Cell Mediated Immune Response. These crystals were designed to be incorporated into wet rations once or twice daily to felines testing positive for FeLV. My first attempt was successful. It took only nine weeks to reverse a positive cat to negative. The owner of this cat happened to be a breeder and within a few days, the whole nation of cat breeders knew about the out come. This was my first attempt at immunotherapy and I was pleased, to say the least, with the positive results. To add credibility to my clinical experiences, the late Mardi Jacob, of Pet Pride Cats of Oregon, within a two-year period, reversed some fifty FeLV positive cats to negative. All of the testing was done at the School of Veterinary Medicine, Washington State University. The Mega C Plus protocol has been also successful with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), Feline Immunosuppressive Virus (FIV). A blood sample was submitted to a diagnostic laboratory to determine the antibody titer for Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP); the results was "0" titer." ***PLEASE NOTE THAT I'M NOT SAYING U SHOULD USE THIS SPECIFIC PRODUCT,I'M JUST USING THIS PRODUCT AS AN EXAMPLE!LIKE THIS THERE'S OTHERS FEW PRODUCT WITH THIS IMMUNOLOGIC BOOST INTENT*** |
has I mention it must exist something which really works to help the immunologic system be able to get rid of the virus!!!
this mega c plus is just an alternative that I found at my research...like this I also found the TRANSFER FACTOR PLUS,the BARLEY GREEN, the conventional medicine called INTERFERON OMEGA and many testimonials about the HOMEOPATHIC NOSODES uses . kat,I believe this time, obvious if they are not in pain and not suffering, its not necessary euthanize animals who tested positive for FeLV. I've been hearing many cases about cats who tested positive and with the proper treatment became negative. This is not a miracle,is scientifically possible specially if the FeLV virus cepa c didn't get into the medulla already. The immunotherapy has been proving great results time after time! I've been using my pain to help my babies and other peoples babies who are suffering of any of this 3 awful disease.... I believe the research and the information is the only weapon we can count at this time.....please join me if u can! many thanks VIC |
It was that the entire litter got violently ill and so they wanted to figure out what was making them so sick, tested them and they tested + for FeLV and since they were literally on deaths door step, they were euthanized. I work at a no-kill shelter and although I wasn't there when it all went down, I was told by all of my friends there that my litter I brought in was extremely sick.
Is FIP something you can test for? Or just something that pops up? |
as far as I know for FIP u can only test the presence of FcoV and if it s in higher taxes it's indicate FIP....there's also a protein/globulin test in blood that if high it indicated fip and also albumin test
Recently I heard about an other kind of test made by a doctor named Dr. KEVIN STEELE he does the Elisa-7B-FIP test and also the PCR-7B-FIP test The 7B refers to a gene that occurs in FIP but not in the regular enteric corona from which it mutates. I'm not sure about the accuracy of this information....I tried research for this doctor but had no much result...... I understand your point and I think it's very cruel criticize someone who loves animals and is obligated to euthanize a baby,I never intend to do it,I just sayd about it because it's a extremely painful decision and unfortunately I already lived this drama....so if the animal could avoid it and we could avoit this terrible decision it would be better for everybody! thanks and kiss |
Oh no I know exactly what you mean. It wasn't that they just tested them then put them down right away, it was basically like what happened to your cats where the poor little kittens got extremely sick and had to be put down.
Have you tried anti-virals? I just say it because my cat has chronic FHV-1 and he kept having outbreaks and we gave him antivirals and used anti microbial drops in his eyes... last time we went to the specialist and had a test done he was clear from the herpes... but the doc said it can come back at any time. Maybe what your cats has is like that?? It could be controlled with the anti virals or maybe even destroyed??? I really don't know but it's just something that popped into my head. |
