Found: MaineCoon cat in Beaverbank

This little cat started staying on my deck about three weeks ago.
He/she lives in a box (with a puffy blanket in it) and doesn't leave the deck, day or night. We feed it and give it treats and have invited it to come inside, but at the moment is too skittish. If anyone has lost this cuddly cat, can you please let me know. I would love to get it back to it's owner, before the weather gets colder. Thanks Valerie

CyberKitten October 27th, 2007 09:21 PM

She is adorable!! You can't take her in? Call one of the local rescues - NOT the SPCA, they wil lsoon have too many cats and as a stray, she may not survive.

Hi

Yes...she is very cute and very affectionate.
It started raining hard here, while I was writing my other note,
so I opened my door and called her and when she came up to the door,
scooped her up and put her in my bathroom. I have a bed set up for her,
plus food, water and a kittylitter. She is very worried, poor thing, but I feel that she needs to be indoors, instead of out in the cold rain. When I went out the other day to check on her...it had rained over night and she was still laying in the soaking wet bed......what a sin. She may not like being locked in my bathroom ( which is quite big ) but I feel that I can't let her out with the other two cats. I am sure that we would have a royal fight on our hands and one of them would get hurt. Besides, if we decide to keep her...if we can't find a home for her, I would need to have her vet checked before letting her mingle with the other two cats.

I have been phoning shelters and unfortunately they are all full.
So it may be that we will be adding her to our family.

Thanks Valerie

again

I should have said that four weeks ago we took in another stray...lol.
Seven months ago we saw this pityful looking little guy trying to eat birdfood out of our birdfeeder. We put food out for him and he started coming to visit regularly. He was so scared, that every time he saw our shadow in the window he would run away. Over the last 7 months with a whole lot of patience, we made friends with him. He finally started sleeping in the "cat bed" that we made for him and finally three weeks ago, got him into the house. He has been needled and we were told by the vet that he has two tumors and is very old and will not last for too much longer. The vet has told us that this little guy has led a hard life and needs a lot of love and understanding, which we are happy to give to him. The vet can't operate because of his age and the poor health he was in. She did assure us that he was not in any pain, because he was eating and "going" regularly.

Here is the first pic I took of him 7 months ago.

And here is a picture I took of him today. He has gained weight and has
a lot more energy and has captured our hearts. He is just a little cutie.
My husband named him SadSack.

Lucky Sadsack, to have found you. Maybe he'll surprise you and keep going a little longer. Your vet sounds very compassionate.
Good luck with the newby. That moment when you finally succeed in drawing them into a safe, warm place, it is such a good feeling, whatever the difficulty.
Another kitty

Thx for taking him in,. You are an angel. Maybe it is meant to be. You can dab a little vanilla under his chin and your other cats (once you find out how healthy he is and can allow him to interact with your other kitties - keep him isolated at 1st) - soft music, tapes of your voice or talk to him a lot, let him adjust to your sounds and smells. Give him food and treats and toys. And it was rainy and miserable so it;s good he was inside. Introduce the others gradually - let them sniff eah other thru the doors - do it slowly and that usually works well. Don'y do it abruptly, that can be problematic.

Good luck!!!!

He is adorable!! Wish Chico was here- she loves Maine coons.

Hello

Hi Thumpy....I can't really remember when he
started "living" on my deck. Probably three weeks ago.
Do you live in Lower Sackville ?
He is currently at the vet's getting checked over.
Can you tell me a little about him...because I have been
talking to the vet and have a lot of news on him.

Thanks so much
Valerie
