cat fights

I have 2 cats-1 12 years old, the other 2. Both female and both calico. They have gotten along well, even playfully since the younger one joined us. Lately though, the younger one has been very aggressive to the older one and won't stop attacking her. Any suggestions? Please?

Have you had the older one in to see a vet lately? If not, it may be a good idea. It sounds strange but cats can pick up on another cat being ill.

In my experience I found Calicos and Torties to be bossy & dominant, so I'm not surprised. Depending on their individual temperaments, they may work out their problems together without any interference from you, but try to give them equal attention. If they're fighting to the point that they draw blood or inflict bad scratches that's another matter, as it'll result in infections & trips to vet for antibiotics. You may have to choose to give one up if it comes to that; otherwise, they would have to be kept separated, and that's a real bother.
