This one shows roses in the back yard along the path - that I can't get by because of the roses, with Red Hot Poker around the birdbath..

Are the red and yellow ones to the left the red hot pokers? I've never seen those before. They look so exotic!

I love red hot pokers. Have never had any luck with them though. The roses look very nice.

Yes, those are the red hot pokers - the hummers love them!

That's too bad, Clm - sorry you haven't had luck with them - I just split mine up - what you see here is less than half of the whole bunch of them! The others are on the other side of the yard...

Really! Do they need full sun or shade? I have a hummingbird garden that has mostly shade except for a narrow sunny strip during June and July...think they'd grow there? I'm always looking for new hummingbird flowers. :thumbs up

My Red Hot Pokers are in part shade and they are thriving! Another excellent plant for hummers is the Red Currant - if you can grow it where you are. Here, it blooms about 2 days before the hummers arrive so as soon as it blooms, out come the feeders! It is actually a tree - a bushy tree and I think it gets to around 8 or 12' and quite wide too. I had one in my front yard and had to move it to the back because it was getting too big. I do believe the Red Hot Pokers prefer acid soil too - and my whole yard is acid..

Yeah, we live in Acid Central, so they should do well here! I'll have to look for them when I go into town tomorrow!
