A beautiful Pigeon...

I saw him yesterday, flying in to a HUGE pine-tree,today he came to my house.
He is very unusual,if he was a cat,I'd say an Angora,he has curly-like white and black feathers.
Looks like he has a dark mohawk hairdo..

Here are a few more....really pretty.
I'll see if he joins my regular Pigeons..

He really is pretty!!

Think he's escaped from someone's coop? I know that racing pigeons often go astray and hook up with the local flocks. Maybe you have a new neighbor. :D

Hazel,I believe he is a domesticated Pigeon,he is not as afraid as my regular Pigeons.
He did end up coming down to eat with the others and was he ever eating,I was really happy to see him eat.
He is bigger than the regular Pigeons..

In this pic,you can clearly see a yellow band on his leg.

Wow! He's a stunner! :lovestruck:

How close did you get to him Chico2? Unless you have a super zoom lens, he looks pretty near to you.

I did some searching on yellow bands and it looks like they're pretty commonly used on homing pigeons. So likely it's an escapee from someone's coop and/or its homing instinct failed. Maybe it will find its way home. Or maybe its found love in your local flock and will stick around for a while! :D

He was here again early evening,he flew east,so I have a feeling he flew home.
He always flies in the same direction,he's a very fast flier..

I was not close to him,he was up on the Cable-Wire,I have 12X zoom, but I can go to 42X,but then it's really tricky to snap a pic..

Beautiful bird, Chico!:lovestruck:

If he keeps coming back and you ever get close enough to read his band that will likely give you the info you need to track down his owner.

The following website gives a lot of information about this:

Thank's M!
I found a few addresses I e-mailed,even a breeder here locally,he says the yellow band means the Pigeon was born this year and he believes, from seeing the pic,he is a Fancy Show Pigeon.
I got a few other answers too,I just want him to be safe:pray:
So far this morning he has not come back...but was here for 3 days.
:pray:He is home safe.
The family here in Oakville raise Pigeons and if there is a chance he/she is in trouble they'll come here and try to catch him/her:thumbs up

My pigeon story. (regular pig)...worked at a school cafeteria. Noticed a pigeon hanging around in the parking lot, picking up crumbs and such for a few days. Everyday..he came back. Well I decide to "feed " him. I took him a cracker and some bread crumbs. BOY that bird followed me like a DOG would ...and ate every single solitary thing I gave him. And was looking for more. I didnt see any bands on him...and he seemed "ok" , so I left him be.
Next day, same time...here he is again. Well I thought...I'll feed him again I guess. Well imagine my surprise when he TOOK the cracker out of my hand.
Ok...this must be someone's pet . I reacy hed down to see if I could pet him..and he didnt mind it AT ALL>
eventually (long story short)...I could hold him, pet him, ect..for three days straight. Finally realised whoever he belonged to either wasnt feeding him properly, OR he was a really trusting wild one.
I scooped him up and found him an apprpriate bird home (they have pgs , doves, other birds).
"PIGGY" effectionaly named...was a highlight of the day there for awhile.
