update on the dog chewing the toe.....

Thanks to the people who replied. I did take Samson back to the vet today and they drew blood out of his toe and look at it in a slide to find cancer cells in it ::sad: we are now scheduled for surgery on the 27th to have to toe removed. The good thing is the Vet was very positive that Samson would be very fine without this particular toe and would heal fine. He also said since it hadn't grown any since the last visit that was a good sign that it was not a fast growning type. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.....thanks again....Pam and Samson

I'm sorry to hear about Samson's toe, Pam :grouphug: With luck and prayers, the surgery will take care of the cancer for good. :fingerscr

Hang tough and remember to post back with an update afterward. The Pack and I are sending lots of pawsitive vibes (:goodvibes:) and snuffly kisses for Samson. :dog:

I just posted to your other thread, at least I am glad you got him to the vet, I know not great news but far better than it could of been, and just so you know a toe amp usually heals pretty quickly, dislocated toes occur quite often in racing greyhounds, and often the easiest and least problematic to treat is to amputate, most will be back racing 4 to 6 weeks after surgery

Glad you got Samson to the vet but sorry for the outcome. Hopefully the cancer was only in that toe and he makes a complete recovery. :fingerscr :goodvibes:

I am sorry to hear as well:grouphug:
Hopefully everything will go well. :fingerscr :goodvibes: Toe amputations are pretty easy, it is good that you caught it early:thumbs up
