Sheltie is Limping
I am the proud owner of a 2 year old male Sheltie named Laddie
He is so active, loves to run, and JUMP...and when I say jump, I mean jump. Since last evening, I noticed he has a limp and seems to be favouring his right rear leg. I am trying not to panic, but he is very much an important and loved part of our family, and feel that I should rush him right to the vet. Should I wait and see if maybe he has injured himself, and if it corrects itself over the next few days, OR Should I get him into the vet right away He is still eating and drinking, and tries to still run and play....just concerned. Thanks |
When one of our dogs seems to have injured one of their legs/paws, we usually wait 24/48 hours (unless they'd be in obvious pain) before taking them into the vet. But that's a day or two of complete rest, no runniing, jumping etc and I'll take them out on leash to do their business only.
:fingerscr it's just a slight sprain and your little guy is back to normal asap. |
We also wait 24/48 hours before a vet visit, unless they aren't putting any weight on the leg or there's significant swelling. Is your dog bearing weight on the affected leg, laddiesowner?
