Looking to adopt a Manx

Hi guys,

Was talking to a wonderful lady today, and she ended up telling me she was looking to adopt a Manx cat. I'd never heard of them (they have no tails) but thought maybe in one of the many shelters and foster homes, someone might have one.

She loves them and is willing to rescue one, no matter the color, age or sex.

If anyone knows of one, you can e-mail me at sophie@rimasec.net (as I don't come here too often, I still get lost and confused... Age, I tell you it's creeping up on me :yuck: )

Thanks

Manx

I would reccomend a Manx over 6 months old because the bowel problems associated with taillessness can first appear up to four months of age. A Manx, by the way, is a specific breed of cat with a certain body type. Many people just call tailless cats Manxes. If she is looking for just a tailless cat, which is due to a genetic mutation, check out this one in Ontario:

Tailless cats are relatively rare and should never be bred.

Lisa
Harry (tailless tabby/Maine Coon mix)
Egg (tailless Siamese/tabby mix)

Manx

No, this lady knows the breed very well, she already has one. She is very educated on the subject, and she specifically is looking for a Manx. Tells me she has never seen one yet in a shelter (here in Montreal, at least).

Manx

She should try manxalotrescue.org in the US or she can Google Manx breeders as sometimes they offer "retired" purebred show cats for adoption.

Too bad this wasn't last year. We had TWO litters (11 kittens in all) of the most scrumptious Manx kittens you ever saw. Only one died, and one had the problems Lisa speaks of.

You might contact Sasha's Purebred Den on Petfinder. They get all kinds of purebreds, but have no Manx at the moment.

Such a shame. I will keep an eye on Sasha's Den site.

Thanks
