Ferrets and sand
 

Does anyone know if it's ok to use sandbox sand in a ferrets cage as litter. Pretty much the whole lower level of my ferret's cage is a litterbox, and newspapers don't work too well, and I can't find any ferrety litter (pellets, etc) and I'm not really excited about using cat litter. I would like to use sand, even as just a play box thing, maybe, but I would like to know if it's OK to keep in the cage...

kk, thanks! It said sand is a thumbs up for ferrets :D That will help me out a lot when it comes to keeping the cage clean, thanks!

Y'know, you might be right about that. I have been around a few nasty ferrets. Probably weren't trained properly. And I know they do have very sharp little teeth and will defend themselves well. :):laughing::laughing: Let's not test out the theory, ok? ;)

LOL, ok! My ferret is the sweetest thing, but don't let him get near cats or birds!

I noticed in your profile you have a lovebird. I had a black masked one for 12 years and when he passed I got a pair of peachfaced. My single one was very lovable. Lifted his wings to get scratched and snuggled a lot. I miss him. The 2 I have now are more into each other than people.
