An animal activist in Dryden says she wants to see legislation at Queen's Park that bans declawing cats in Ontario.

Camille Cox says declawing not only removes the claws, but also a significant part of the bone.

“There's just so many cats out there that are being declawed, and it cruel, it's painful to them,” she said.

“Why put a cat through that … would you like it if all your fingers were cut off?”

Cox says declawing can cause many long-term health and behavioural problems in cats.

Her petition supporting a ban was presented to the legislature Tuesday by Sarah Campbell, MPP for Kenora-Rainy River.

SCM,I have a good example of a kitty who lives in my vets office,he had all 4 paws declawed(not by my vet)the owners got rid of him because of "behavior"problems,he bites,he's a beautiful muted orange male.
My vet took him in,but will not adopt him out, because he bites.
We should without a doubt, join the rest of the civilized world and not mutilate cats!!
