Guinea Pigs and summer heat

I have a guinea pig and I live in an apartment with no air conditioning. Is there any way to keep him cooler? I don't want to have a fan right on him b/c I know that drafts are bad for them.

Any suggestions?

hot air rises so if possible, keep the cage low to the floor, what my daughter does (she rescues guinea pigs) is she puts a fan on the table in the room and has it blowing over(back and forth) a bowl of ice, remember, hot air rises, cold airs goes down, no draft on the piggies.....for my chinchilla, I have a flat ice pack under one end of his cage.

Also, you could use one of those stone slabs for cooling. I know they have some for chinchillas, but I've heard of people using stone cutting boards as well since it's the same principle.

Here's an example: http://www.carealotpets.com/thumb.aspx?size=280&path=%2Fimages%2Fsite_images%2F5430lg.jpg

if you just google "chinchilla cooling stone" stuff should pop up.
