This Forum....

I have always loved animals and have often been told that I have a big heart because I am always trying to help animals in one way or another. I even wrote my research paper for my college english class on Animal Rights.....I was innocently searching the web one day and came accross pets.ca....This forum is the best thing that has ever happend to me. I am in awe at the fact that so many of you are just like me....You love and care for your pets in a way that so many have forgotten...I am constantly on rescue sites reading about abandoned animals and thinking, "doesn't anyone believe in commitment to their animals?!?" I read about a malamute rescued by the Alaskan Malamute Help Legue. She was 9 months old and taken to her vet to be euthanized because she was too big, or they got bored....the vet called the Help League and they rescued her. A lady I know that volunteers with me for the Animal Rescue Foundation was fostering a dog, and she had 2 of her own. One is a boston terrier and the other is a mini schnauzer. She and her husband wanted to keep the one they were fostering, and gave up the schnauzer....How can people do that? You can;t just trade them in when something better comes along!! They're animals, not cars!!! I love my dogs more than ANYTHING and I would sell my kidney on the black market to save them...and then I hear about people just dumping them....I am so glad to have found this forum where I can be open, honest, and best of all, UNDERSTOOD. I just wish I could do more....Thank you all for being such great pet owners....I'm so thankful to all of you who care enough to open yourselves up to these creatures that can not speak for themselves.....God bless you all!!!!!

Heeler'sRock....Thank's for the very nice words :p
Yes,I agree with you, there are a wonderful bunch of people here, who are lucky enough to have realized how very important our animals are in our lives,I could not imagine my house without cat-hair :D
Still we have had posters leaving here thinking we are a bunch of jerks, because our advice was not to their liking...we put the animals first..
Knight,I KNOW you don't love your kitty, you NEVER show any pics of Trixie, you are obviously NOT a proud daddy :D :D :D

Thanks Heelers Rock it is nice to talk to people who feel the same way about animals. I agree with you on these people who get a pet then decide to get rid of it for the stupidest reasons. Example of an ad I recently read great dog loves kids, well mannered, walks well on leash, has obedience training, must find new home for dog as we are expecting a new baby. I emailed them and asked if the dog is great with kids why are you giving her up? They never answered so I emailed again and asked if they were going to get rid of the first kid if she gets pregnant again. I got a response but I won't post what they said. Why do people think pets are disposable? But it is nice to have a group of people who have the same ideals, yes we can disagree, but bottom line is we all love animals and want what is best for them.

What a wonderful thread! Thank you for posting such praise. I agree wholeheartedly!

heeler's rock! September 8th, 2004 11:18 PM

Awwww.Ironknight...your kitty is soooo adorable!! Look at that face! :D

Mastiff, I really wanna know what the response you got said!!! :D
I love people who speak their mind, no matter what!!!! :D

Nice thread!!! This is the reason I stay with this forum - all the wonderful members who feel the same way I do about their pets. When you adopt a pet into your family, they become part of your family. It's a commitment for life! When I've lost a pet, a lot of people seem surprised at my grieving for "just a dog"! Here, people understand and cry with you. It means so much to have a place where I can vent. Yes, sometimes the posts cause me tears too, because I can identify with them. But, how can you not reach out to someone when you know exactly how they feel. And the triumphs are so lifting! Thanks!

Heelers I completely agree with you.

:D

It's wonderful to share your thoughts with others who feel the same as you do, as you know they 'understand' how you feel and what you must be going through or dealing with.

It's a lovely place to get information and meet good people and some furballs too ;)

krdahmer September 15th, 2004 10:49 PM

Great post...and ditto...this place is so great...with the area I live in, I was beginning to think I was the only person left who gave a crap about animals!!!

Oh and Ironknight....is it actually IMPOSSIBLE for you to go one thread without posting a pic of that adorable fuzz ball of cute?????

There's MANY Thread's where no pic's of trixy..
so then
it seems that you have a problem with Trixy she's only 5 months 2 weeks..

chico2 September 16th, 2004 07:44 AM

Knighty,NOBODY I am sure,has a problem with Trixie...keep posting picks!!
And Dahmer was surely not critizing......us cat-owners are a bit weird at times, but ohhhhh so proud to be ruled by kitties :D :D

Writing4Fun September 16th, 2004 09:54 AM

Ditto to what Chico2 said, Knight! We all love Trixie, and I for one think it's very sweet how much you obviously adore your kitten! :D I'm just wondering if the newest members of your crew will get as much board time once they arrive. ;)

chico2 September 16th, 2004 10:11 AM

Yeah,I was wondering about those two coming from Scotland....I am sure Knight will have a"bit"of a problem for a while,it's nerve-wracking getting strange cats used to each other, but well worth it...and Knight mentioned later on a doggie  fun,fun,fun.....

Writing4Fun September 16th, 2004 10:16 AM

LOL!! The board administrators will have to upgrade their space just to have enough room for all of Knight's pictures!!!

BTW, this board is phenomenal!! :D I've recommended it to anyone I know with a pet, or who wants a pet, or who had a pet in the past, or... What an excellent place to share info, get some much-needed support, and make a few new friends! :D

krdahmer September 16th, 2004 11:35 AM

Ya hello.....was JOKING!!!! Trixy is a doll....sorry I must have had some of my husband's misunderstood humour rub off on me.....LOL now I know how he feels when I react like that!!!

I was under the impression that I was being funny and/or cute....I had a stressful day and must have been knocked of kilter a little!!!

glasslass September 16th, 2004 12:12 PM

But be warned!!!! Love seeing your little fuzzball, but turnabout is fair play!!! We won't feel guilty posting our pix too!!! As if we ever did anyway!! LOL

iRONKNiGHT September 16th, 2004 01:41 PM

I love you guys :)

Okay i admit i did get upset when krdahmer (Kelly) made that comment since it was the 3rd comment made about me posting trixy's pic.. i am very sensitive when it comes not just to Trixy but too all cat's!
Kelly's really a good sport and i like her lot's :)
:D I'm just wondering if the newest members of your crew will get as much board time once they arrive. ;)
Funny we were discussing that very subject...but decided that trixy will have to be nice to her scottish sisters since she likes to play rough and my girlfriend's cat's are MUCH more calm..Trixy's a wild kitten..she drew blood from my finger only hours earlyer lol..that only makes me even more Proud..for she's a little warrior..

krdahmer September 16th, 2004 06:13 PM

Same to you Sir Knight! ;)

heeler's rock! September 16th, 2004 11:00 PM

You are all sooooooo great! I can't believe the amount of support, information, and advice I get from here! I came on here expecting a few answers to some questions, or to just look around. I ended up with a bunch of new friends!!! I am so glad to have my extended pets.ca family! We may fight or seriously disagree, but in the end, we're all the same. We just love our pets and want what's best for all of animal kind!

Iron, you know we love Trixie!!! You can post her on any of my threads, anytime you want! She's adorable!!!!!!!!!!! :D
