Lost Cockatiel Sherwood Park Alberta

My Grandmas cockatiel escaped outdoors New Years day at noon and she is absolutely heartbroken. A lot of really nice people in Sherwood Park helped us look for him all day until sundown with no luck. I'm hoping he thumped into a window trying to head back indoors and someone has found him and brought him inside.

He's crazy brave, friendly, lives on her shoulder and whistles like crazy when she or grandpa leaves the room so I imagine he'd of been quite happy to see any human being once he realized he was lost =) My grandparents call him Cheep Cheep (and Coo Coo) - if by some amazing miracle anyone has found this little guy you will literally be making the YEAR for my Gram - please email me if you live in the Sherwood Park or surrounding area and have found and/or rescued her guy.

Thanx Much Folks and Happy New Year!

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandparents' cockatiel escaping. I too hope someone has been able to catch him and take him indoors since it's pretty cold out there right now. :(

Are his wings clipped? Advertise as much as possible and put up posters ....better yet take them door to door. Also, put his cage outside with food in it ....he may just go back in if he is close by. :fingerscr

I love those pics .....especially the one with the kitty .....that is so precious the way the both of them get along. :cloud9:

Good luck and keep us posted. :fingerscr :goodvibes:

Thanks for the good wishes :) His wings aren't clipped no, he had free reign in the house and was spoiled rotten - like a kid - but with feathers lol.

I actually live in Edmonton, my Gram phoned from home and she was so upset we thought my gramp had died there for a minute. I did tell her to take his cage outside and for her and Grampa to keep talking and calling as that was the best chance he'd have of getting his bearings an finding them again.

Their neighbour and son came out and help search with them until we got there, and we brought an entire contingent of New Years Eved-over teenagers who were woken and enlisted to come out too. The city was scraping roads and even the girls on the road crew were spreading the word. Their neighbour had printed fliers right away and we gave them to everyone we saw out in the neighbourhood, put them up at the local stores - I even gave a pizza delivery guy a bunch to give to his drivers =) Everyone out there was really excellent.

We never did hear a peep out of him - I think he may have gone pretty far pretty quick as he's a bit of a daredevil fly-boy - or as I tell my Gram to hope for he made a B-line to land in someones kitchen and conked himself out on a window and was brought inside fairly quick. I've had birds all my life, they are far more resilient than people think, it was really mild here that day and has only gotten warmer (including that night) since, so I haven't given up hope. The community is bird crazy and there are feeders everywhere so he has a good chance I figure.

The pictures of him are from when he was here with me while my grandparents were away. He was a visitor and that was the first time he saw my cat! Like I said crazy brave bird, my poor cat was unnerved for the whole visit - the bird trucked around on the floor like he owned the place lol. Ah well, I've rescued dozens of pet and wild birds over the years so I'm hoping karma will send a little back my way to heal my Grams heavy heart.

Will update if any good news is heard, cheers everyone :fingerscr
