Foster home needed

An IMMEDIATE foster home is needed for Ebby, a small black cat that arrived on my balcony with a huge abcess on his face and is now at the Journet Clinic on the Plateau. He will be neutered tomorrow and at the same time they will drain the abcess. I am hoping that after a couple of days, he can be vaccinated. And of course, he will be on antibiotics for at least ten days.
If anyone has a spare corner for him, we would both be eternally grateful.
He is an exceptionally calm little fellow - didn't even flinch when the vet shaved part of his face to see the extent of the abcess - so probably hasn't been out for long.
I'll try to get a picture tomorrow.

Oh poor baby! I just took a new foster in, and hope someone else can squeeze your little guy in somewhere.:(

Poor Ebby, he's stuck in a cage in a small room with 3 bouncy dogs and another cat. Not a happy camper!

In addition to the abcess, which is healing, he has a bit of a skin condition, probably from rubbing his head against anything he could find to relieve the pressure/pain.

I don't want to use the D word, but he could sure use some TLC right now. Did I mention that all costs will be covered?

It's better for him to be caged with three bouncy dogs around him, then be on the streets starving and suffering. (One way to look at it)

He looks very sweet, is the vet going help you find him a home? Why don't you place an add in the gazette (it doesn't need to be long) about cats looking for a home. I did that once, I got alot of qualified people. I asked for a donation and no one had a problem with that.

He is really very sweet, but it's been a rough two days.
The vet doesn't get involved in finding homes, in fact they usually call me if they have a cat that has been dumped and they're not comfortable putting it down.

Poor baby! I don't know anyone at the moment who wants a cat or foster a cat! Is the side of face underneath his ear shaven as well?

badger April 7th, 2006 03:25 PM

The side of his head, which is also shaved, is where the abcess developed (probably from fighting) and then just in the space of 48 hours, his forehead swelled up tremendously. With his overhanging brow, he looked like Cro-Magnon cat! That's when I snatched him.
The technician at the clinic told me he is quite battered overall. Ah, life on the street, ain't it grand.
We didn't want to take him out of the cage for better pictures, he was just too upset.

Awww Badger,at least he is safe for the moment, there was someone here who loved black cats(not that I don't,Chico is a wonderful gentle cat),but I forgot who it was:sad:
I don't know how you handle all this kitty-misery but I admire you greatly for all the good you do:love:

bump bump

Ebby is still at the vet, recovering from his abcess, had his snip, on meds, doing OK. He badly needs an angel to take him home. I know we're all swimming in cats, but if anyone has a corner, he (and I) would be soooo grateful.

Someone please, please, please help this little guy:fingerscr

Has he been FIV tested? This would be important for anyone who wants to foster him in a multi-cat home.

How is he so far with other cats/dogs?

badger April 12th, 2006 01:32 AM

No, he hasn't been tested for FIV. Thanks for the heads-up.
Impossible to know if he's OK with other cats or dogs, I've barely had five minutes with him, just whisked him off to the vet; but he's not feral, since he readily lets himself be picked up and even cops a snuggle.
He would have to be isolated, of course, and therein lies my problem, no room at the inn!
