Runny eyes
My one year old Siamese has a fairly constant runny eye. It's only his right eye affected and it's a clear tear like discharge. I took him to the vet twice already and the just keep telling me there's nothing wrong. Now both times I took him in there were no symptoms at the time. He has no other illness symptoms and eats like a horse. Do did put dye in his eye to look for irregularities but found nothing. I can't really afford to just keep going to the vet with no resolve, I've already spent 100 bux. Any suggestions?

Does your cat have any other concurrent symptoms, like nasal discharge or sneezing? What type of litter do you use? What kind of food does he eat? There could be a few causes for the watery eye, like a blocked tear duct, allergies (food or environmental), or a URI. Some things you can try:

adding 250-500mg of L-lysine powder to his food (in case the herpes virus is responsible)
changing the litter (especially if it's scented or very dusty, like clay)
eliminating all scented cleaning products and laundry detergents
feeding a quality grain-free wet food, no kibble
warm eye compresses with colloidal silver and/or eyebright
Here is a link that might help: http://onlynaturalpetblog.com/2009/01/27/feline-upper-respiratory-problems/ |
