Where can I buy a long leash?
Hi,
My dog is learning callback in a park. I need to get a 15-30 feet long leash. But I looked almost everywhere, walmart, pet stores such as petectra;global pet food, pet value, etc....they don't have it! I know I can get a retractable leash but I personally favor the real long leash....Can someone show me the directions please? Thank you. |
Pet value should have them. The leash is called a training lead. They have a 20' and a 30'...It's actually rolled up and in a small bag where the leashes and collars are.I just picked one up for a co-worker,and I used it when I was training my dogs when they were pups.:)

mondu also has them.. we bought 2 of them they come in 20 30 aqnd 40foot in red and black..they are usally rolled up in a bag.... there called training leashes..

If you still can't find one in your area, ask the store manager to order one for you. I think the name of one company that makes them is Hunter. Most pet supply stores carry this brand so it shouldn't be a problem to order a specific product from their distributor.

If you can't find a long enough one,try a tack shop. Lunge lines work as well and are available in cotton which I find easier on your hands than nylon.

I have bought the 20 ft training leash at The Dollar Store! Yup, $1.00 for a leash. Granted, you have to check it and make sure the stitching is good, but I have used the same one for the past 2 yrs. :2cents:

I like the thicker ones myself.. 1"-1 1/2" in width.. I find when they are dragged along the street or hard surface the thicker ones don't frey as much.. |
When Simon had his training, they also wanted us to bring a long leash. Not wanting to buy one (didn't think about the dollar store) I had some thick rope (closeline rope is a good choice). I bought a hook, tied a knot, made a loop for a handle...and Voila! had our new lead/leash.
Just another suggestion. Diane |

Long and Durable Leashes
I was able to get a very durable long leash from PetPilot after seeing them at a trade show in Indiana. They can make custom leashes of any length - you may have to email them to get it though. www.petpilot.com
I have a 20 foot leash with a water-ski type handle from them. Hope this helps. |
