Over weight cat

 My boyfriend keeps over feeding my cats, Sassy is not chubby and doesn't eat that much, but Buffy is a little piggy and eats like theres no tomorrow. I feed them dry food and have been limiting them on that, but he continues to feed them canned food twice a day and now Buffy is getting way to fat, help please. I don't know what to do, I know it's not good to over feed your cat. Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know about you but if my boyfriend was overfeeding my dogs, I would kick his a**. I know more about dogs than he does and if he doesn't respect that, he doesn't respect me or my dogs. I say make him go to the vet with you and when you get yelled at for the weight, maybe your man will see the seriousness.

i agree with Prin, bring the boyfriend to the vet with you and make sure the vet yells at him over the weight.

Obesity is a serious problem with cats. This is from a pet health site:

_______________________________
"Being overweight can cause a cat to be at risk for medical problems such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, liver disease, greater surgical/anaesthetic risk, and musculoskeletal/joint dysfunction.
-----------------------------------------------------

I"m sure your b/f doesn't want to hurt these cats and needs to be shown he is "killing them with kindness."

If these were my cats, I would continue with the canned food every day, but not the dry.

Lucky, why do you say to continue the canned? Doesn't the canned usually have more fat?

Is there a "right" weight for cats? Two of our Boyz are just under 12lbs and our big guy (Pippin) is just under 15lbs but he is just a generally BIG cat .... huge legs/paws ... he doesn't look overweight.
We feed them hairball/weight control dry food (free feed), a 85g can between the 3 of them in the morning and a 68g pouch (wet with sauce/gravy) at night, also shared by 3. I've heard that moist/wet food is better for weight control/loss because of the liquid in it
