Pics of the horses at their new temp home

After a really hard beginning of winter with the horses, we had no choice but to send them off for boarding.
Its weird not having them here, almost creepy. But they are SO happy at their new place especially now that they have been accepted into the herd.
They live with 17 other horses now and Fay even has an old friend there.
Turns out the black and white paint mix that I had decided on before Fay was purchased by this lady's daughter. Her name is Dakota. Her and Fay remember each other and she helped get my girls welcomed into the herd.

Here's part of the herd ( mine are in there somewhere at the back)

See, always together

Here is Dakota, she's up for sale again... its hard not to jump on it, shes such a beautiful horse. Expecting this spring with the same stud that Fay may be expecting with as well

erykah1310 January 23rd, 2009 08:46 PM

Here's the "evil mare" shes not that bad but I'm terrified of her, she belongs to the "new neighbours" ( or will be once we move)

She's really pretty when she's not giving you the stink eye with her ears pinned

This is April, she belongs to the lady who owns the place. Another double blue eyed mare, her and Fay have been seen eating together ( they know they're something with their blue eyes)

A young Thoroughbred putting the run on my girls, its so nice to see them hit top speed now and just run like the wind

A quick little drink at the watering hole

And off running to the bushes

Trouble maker, he didn't want anyone near me for a while today

This is Gypsy and her life long friend, they were severely neglected horses no human contact for approx 10 years, they are much better now apparently

erykah1310 January 23rd, 2009 08:52 PM

One of the 2 really funky horses there

Dakota trying her hardest to convince me to buy her... she's a real suck

Troubled teen coming in to disturb everyone.

Wee squabbles ( there were some pretty wild squabbles today but I hadn't managed to get any on camera)

SantaFe and Beauty taking a little breather with me

Pretty miss Dakota, she lost her foal this spring before going up for sale. Venna was nursing from both her and Fay when we went to pick out who we wanted. So sad that both her and Fay could be preggers again already.

I love the pics, erykah! So sweet of Dakota to welcome the girls into the herd! :cloud9: They're all looking so good.

So are you gonna let Dakota slip through your fingers again? Sounds like you're fated to be together--every time you meet she's up for grabs. :o

That truly is one funky horse! I really like the Trouble Maker one, too. The running pics are great--and the one of them heading into the bushes :D

Dog Dancer January 23rd, 2009 09:07 PM

So will you keep the name Dakota??? You know you're gonna get her... She's gorgeous, and Fey likes her! And she comes with a spare! Great pictures. I love horses, and have to settle for semi large dogs instead. Good enough.

Diamondsmum January 23rd, 2009 09:35 PM

ohhh they are all gorgous soo snowy & pretty yup I too think Dakota is meant to be yours

:)

*awe* wow so nice! I am a horse FREak also,, I have a quater horse arab mare, I had to sell two others cuz with three kids I didn't have the time they needed, she is boarded now, and my 9 yr old has a welsh'arab cross that she jumps with, and it lives at the lesson barn, I agree u must buy that paint!!! she wants you! *awe* do u ride english or western, what sports?

erykah1310 January 23rd, 2009 09:59 PM

I think she's meant to be too, but I am not willing to pay double what they payed for her. It sounds sad, but they haven't trained her or anything so I really don't see the whole charge twice as much as you payed just because thing.
I really don't want another foal. REALLY DONT
Perhaps I can swing something, they can keep the foal and sell it and I take Dakota for the price they payed??
I think I will ask for the lady's daughter's number (its her horse) and have a chit chat with her.
2 unbroke horses and a green broke one, I think I have a death wish or something lol
But she's such a stunning girl.

hazelrunpack January 23rd, 2009 10:03 PM

How far away is this boarding farm? Maybe someone there can help you with the extra saddle-breaking? :D

:fingerscr that you can work something out with Dakota's owner!

I ride "airmiles" style LOL, I'm not very good at all.
I did most of my riding back in highschool and prior to that. its been a good 12 years since I did any "real riding"
Back before highschool I did some barrels here and there, but that was when I was young and totally carefree!
Most of my riding has been western, I think I have rode english twice up until this summer.
I bought Beauty an English saddle ( just a cheap synthetic one) because thats the only one that would fit her properly and I was getting tired of returning saddles.
I'm not minding the English that much, actually I am finding myself preferring it.
I will be breaking Fay western to start though, younger unpredictable green horses and green riders.... well I would rather be well seated, I am still working on my seating for english riding.

Right now the horses are no more than 15 minutes away, but this spring if all goes well with the purchase of our new house, they will be right across the road until we put up some fencing.

hazelrunpack January 23rd, 2009 10:12 PM

Oh, wow, that's great!!! :goodvibes: that it all works out the way you want it to!!!

lUvMyLaB<3 January 23rd, 2009 11:26 PM

heehee thats funny.. I don't think I can ride english.. uhmm where is the oh ***** handle???? I need one of those... my daughter REaLLY wanted to jump so she has been in lessons since she was 2, and she is awesome, rides with 13 year old girls. But that is a good thing, she has JRA (arthritis) and can't keep up in any sports so I am happy that she has something that she is better than everyone at..

TeriM January 24th, 2009 02:30 AM

Wonderful pictures :cloud9:. Makes me very nostalgic for my horse days . I rode mainly english with just a bit of western. Loved to jump :cloud9: and really wanted to get into eventing but there wasn't anything like that in our area. Those memories are some of my favourite times of my life :).

Rottielover January 24th, 2009 09:21 AM

OMG stunning, just think of this, Kayla will have her own horse, and so will you and I, we all go riding this summer when I come back and never want to leave. Oh ya did I say NEVER. LOL
You are stuck with me girly. LOL

Dakota is gorgeous, it is so nice to see Fay reacting nicely towards your future pet :)

I can not wait to come back, I want to come back NOW :)

Its not purchased yet, we still have to wait for the guy to severe (sp?) it.
But once that is done and we get our agreement to purchase and lawyer, all should go smoothly *fingers crossed*

You'd be riding a green broke, I would be trying to ride a green broke and that means Kayla would be on Beauty who is calmer but stubborn....
I better get working Beauty soon, she's great with kids mounted, I'll give her that, its like she feels they are not seated well and s l o w l y walks. But she gets stubborn too....
Best snatch up a riding helmet for her.
I'm looking into getting a kids saddle for Beauty ( the ones with the handles instead of horn) we could just pony her behind so she doesn't have to worry about reigning.
We'll figure it out.
:D

erykah1310 January 24th, 2009 11:41 AM

It breaks my heart that Dakota's future looks so bleak... I mean an unbroke horse only gets purchased to be a brood mare really.
She was born a brood mare unfortunately, same as Fay
I promised Fay I would keep her forever, and if something came up that I no longer could, I would ensure she was somewhere good, or leased out. That way she would still be my horse.

chico2 January 24th, 2009 01:10 PM

Awww Erykah, you say "for sale"again:sad:does that mean she's had several owners ?
If nobody wants her, where does she go...I hate to think of it.
She wants to live out her life at your place, she told me.

badger January 24th, 2009 01:45 PM

Chico the long-distance horse-whisperer
They are all beautiful. Do they stable them at night?

Her and Fay are both Alberta bred horses they were shipped over here as filly's.
They then went to an auction where the guy that I got Fay from purchased them for brood mares, then I purchased Fay and they got Dakota.
If she doesn't sell, these people would keep her until they found a suitable home for her. These people have several "rescue" horses (from transport wreaks, auctions and so on)
I know she wants to live with us, I have been talking to Guy and he wants her to live with us too.... Its just a matter of working out a deal with the current owner.
They are all beautiful. Do they stable them at night?
All of them are stabled at night other than my 2, just because there are not enough stalls right now.
Mine have a lean to that they could go in if they need to.

What a gorgeous setting for your girls! The photos are beautiful :thumbs up.
