sick dog

Hi, My 2 1/2 yo dog has been throwing up about 3 times in the last 2 days, diahrrea a couple of times and now her stool has a lot of mucous in it and some of it looks like a tube of raw sausage.
She hasn't eaten anything different or been anywhere but home. There isn't anything different at home either. She's eating and drinking fine, but seems to be sleeping a little more. (she's a VERY laid back dog, has always slept 18 out of 24 hours)

Maybe its a stomach virus. I just don't know, I've never had a house dog before her. I was just hoping someone here could help shed some light on this.
She is my baby now that my girls are pretty much grown and out of the house. I thought about taking her to the vet, but I just had her there for a couple of sores where she's allergic to some kind of grass. She was put on steroids but done with those now. I feel like a nervous new mother.
Thank you,
Nonnie

I would take her to the vet as soon as possible.

A friend of mine just lost her dog over the weekend - it was sort of similar. Dog was throwing up for a few days, and then colapsed.... quickly deteriorated from there. :(

Good luck, hope everything turns out okay! :)

Please take your dog to the vet ASAP.

She may have eaten something she shouldn't have, food-wise, or she could have something like a toy part lodged in her stomach. There are lots of possibilities, but the mucous you spoke of on her stool could indicate that her digestive system is trying to purge itself of a bacteria or other harmful substance, or it could be another allergic reaction. Please don't wait. And make sure she's drinking water.

Thank you both for your response.
I am so happy to tell you that she is all better now. Whatever it was, is gone and she's back to her loving, lazy ol' self now.
Thank you for being here and caring.:D
InfiniteMystery, I am so very sorry for your friends loss.

Nonnie
