New here

Hi, my name is Julie, I am new here. I have 3 dogs. One of my dogs has just gone through radiation for rectal cancer...he was doing great up until 6 days ago...he has not had a bowel movement for 6 days..took him to the vet and they gave him 3 enimas which did not work, tryed to clean out manually to no avail. He is now on medication for mobility, he is 12 years old. He has also been on a stool softener and nothing is working...anyone have any ideas on how to get him to have a bowel movement? If he doesn't have a bowel movement within 3 days he will have to be put down...HELP!!!!

Did the vet have an idea of what's going on? Is there a blockage of some sort? Inflammation?

Drinking water will help. Pure pumpkin puree can help with constipation, too--and most dogs love it. It's very high in fiber. But unless a blockage has been ruled out I wouldn't use it. And if it's a motility problem, I'm not sure it will help :(

I hope someone comes up with some other ideas for you.

Welcome to the board, Julie, and please keep us posted! :grouphug:

Welcome to the board! sorry its under these circumstances. I was going to suggest yogurt. I have found that it aids in tummy upset but also seems to help with constipation. Good luck and keep us posted!
