The kittens have arrived :)

After being so concerned over Phoenix's pregnancy and not really knowing when her due date was she had her vet appointment yesterday afternoon. She checked out great and my vet had said, "any day now"
Well, I think the car ride to the vet was enough to get things moving, she went off her food last night and was very restless until 2 am when she just had decided to bunker down for the night. This morning started delivering.
She had 2 still born right out the start gate:( which were followed by a very healthy light grey calico girl, an orange tailed kitten and an orange rumpy manx kitten like her:lovestruck:
So far that is all we have but I am thinking there may be more.
Once we get everything cleaned (bedding) and everyone is settled in nicely I will post pics of the wee ones.
Momma is doing great, she seems a bit freaked out by the whole process but is laying to feed and clean them.

Aw, sweet momma kitty. Bless you for helping her through this Eryka. You are her earth angel for sure. Can't wait for kitty pics. So sad about the still born babies though.

How are Momma and the Three Musketeers doing today, erykah? :D We need a bunch of pics, y'know!! :thumbs up

GAH
Ok, my rocket hub is messing with me today, been trying to post this reply for awhile now.
Babies are doing fantastic, little manx baby is a real porker, they are super quiet kittens but they have a very attentive momma.
I have a bazillion pics already of them and as soon as my hub will allow me to upload some of the pics i will be sure to get some up.

They're darling, erykah! :flirt: And they look so healthy. Mama must be taking good care of them!

ownedbycats June 6th, 2012 07:12 AM

Erykah, they are adorable. Wait until they start, running around, you'll die of laughter watching their antics. That will repay all the work of getting them to that point:D
How are the dogs and the mama cat dealing with each other?
Are the dogs curious about what is going on?
I'm assuming the mother is confined to her own room with the kittens for now, do you have plans for later when she wants to move them somewhere else?

marko June 6th, 2012 07:14 AM

They sure are cute Erykah - thx for sharing the pix.

erykah1310 June 6th, 2012 10:13 AM

Because she came from a shelter and was so pregnant she hasn't met any of the other animals here, she has her very own private birthing suite set up in our spare room. Perhaps in a couple weeks I will slowly start introducing her to some of the dogs and other cats here but for now, she needs her privacy.

Dog Dancer June 6th, 2012 10:56 AM

Ah bless you Erykah they are so sweet. They do look healthy! I agree it's too soon to let her meet the others. I'm sure she's very happy to have her private suite and no stress.

Adorable :cloud9: Kudos to you for giving them a safe home to be born/raised & mama a forever home after she's done raising her babes. :thumbs up

Good morning Erykah. I have been volunteering at the Humane Society here and they have been doing ENS, Early Neuro Stimulation on puppies and kittens. This technique is very beneficial to thier wellbeing. I have attached directions on why and how to do this.

Perhaps your kittens will benefit from this also. They start this at the age of 3 days to the age of 3 weeks.

Thanks for the pictures they are adorable, who wouldn't/couldn't love these little ones.

Aww Erykah, they are beautiful...it's now the 16th of June, have to check for more pics..

erykah1310 June 17th, 2012 02:53 PM

I will be sure to get some pics of them, their eyes are opening now and they are PORKY lol.
Super super sweet kittens, rarely make a sound. And momma is just HILARIOUS, I will have to get video of her around the dogs. She will fly at them straight through the air, grasp on to them and flop to the floor and start purring and loving the dogs up. She's a real little cutie.

hazelrunpack June 17th, 2012 11:25 PM

omd, we definitely need video of that! Does she do that to the TMs?! She sounds like a gem! Looking forward to kitten pics, too! :D

ownedbycats June 18th, 2012 11:18 AM

It's great that she gets along with the dogs. Some mothers get extremely overprotective. The kittens sound sweet. Just wait until they are mobile, and you have little balls of fluff bouncing around underfoot. At about eight weeks they are unbelievably cute.

erykah1310 June 18th, 2012 07:00 PM

8 weeks is when I have to return them to be put up for adoption :(
I may try to get them to hold off till 9 weeks though just because ;)
