16 year old cat having problems

My cat is 16 years old and over the last 2 weeks she seems to be getting worse and worse. She started to pee all over the house including her blanket and in the litterbox. She was not eating much and is now eating up to 2 small cans of food a day. She drinks lots and always has. She has also been falling. Her back legs just seem to fall out from under her. Its happened 3 times in less than 24 hours. She just isn't herself. She had a check up 4 months ago and all came back good. She has also had shaking fits, like a seizure when she wakes up. She throws up about once a week. I am taking her to the vet tonight but I am thinking her time is coming. She hardly moves, she used to be really active. Any advice. I can't afford hundreds of dollars for tests and I don't want to put her through that, she hates people. What can I do? Thanks

Definitely a vet visit is in order, so I'm glad you're taking her today. Make sure to get a full senior blood panel and urinalysis. Lab work can tell you a lot about what's going on and her issues may very well be treatable. Common ailments in senior cats are diabetes, hyperthyroidism, kidney disease, arthritis, cardiomyopathy, etc., most of which may be managed with an appropriate treatment plan. Don't give up on your girl just yet! She may have many more years left.

Let us know how the vet visit goes. :grouphug:

Did the check up 4 months ago include a geriatric/full blood panel incl T4 and a urinalysis?

How have her poops been?

I'm glad you've got her in to the see the vet tonight, :goodvibes: let us know how she's doing :grouphug:

We ended up visiting the vet. She was really sick they believe it was kidney failure and some nerological problems. We had to put her down. She was my best friend for 16 years and I will miss her every day but I know she is better off now. Thanks for your support

I'm so sorry, I know how hard that must have been :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: We just had to put down my 4 year old cat and we only had him for a year, I can't imagine what it must feel like to lose your best friend of 16 years. You did the right thing releasing her from pain.
