Help! Neuter problems

I just had my 4 month old schnauzer neutered 3 days ago, everything had been fine but today I noticed some redness that wasn't there before. He has been pretty active today and yesterday . I'm concerned about infection . I don't have much experience with neuters as all my other dogs have always been fixed by rescue organizations before we got them . The only neuter incision I've ever seen was my husbands , should it go up to his pee pee???! I thought it was just the scrotum ? This is my first puppy and I'm absolutely head over heels! He has been licking it a lot and I have tried to make him stop..

Yep, you need to keep him from licking. Do you have a cone for him? If not, your vet should be able to hook you up with one. :thumbs up

The redness is irritation from the licking and there's a risk of infection with it. Watch it for any swelling or discharge, and make him go cold turkey on the licking... :o

Also, it probably wouldn't hurt to limit his activity for another couple of days to minimize any swelling. The area is very vascular and it takes a while for the vessels to totally close off after a neuter.

And finally, I'll warn you now that we're picture hounds here, so when he's feeling a bit more his normal self, we'd love to see some pics of more than his belly. :D

I don't really know what breed he is besides Angel I was told miniature schnauzer but I'm thinking not. A guy was taking him to the shelter but I scooped him. He's 4 months old very wiry hair and almost brindle in color.

Stop the licking and try a cone for sure. I slept with my dogs first few nights to make sure nothing is ripped out. (I am a very light sleeper)
