kittens with possible eye infections
 

Hi, wondering if anyone can help.

I am looking to adopt these kittens (not all but 1 or 2), but what scares me is how dark the pink is around their eyes.

Is it possible that these kittens have a disease? And if so, is it treatable? If it is treatable, then I will go ahead with the adoption.

Not unusual for kittens to get eye infections. Both of my girls had them when I adopted them. Cleared up easily with medication.

Normally eye infections will cause an eye to have a mucousy discharge and their eyes don't open fully. If this is the case, then they will need to see a vet for antibiotics.

It is safe to use Polysporin Ear and Eye drops a couple times per day (you can get at the pharmacy counter) in kitten's eyes, it will keep the eyes clean. The antibiotics in this is not strong enough to clear up an infection, though. Kittens play so rough with each other, that it is normal to get some eye irritations.

They'll keep each other busy,will never be lonely and they are tons of fun to watch.

Chico is right, there is really no more work with 2, but they will keep each other occupied which is easier on you.

Don't forget some good cat stands, the kittens will need one in each of the rooms normally occupied by you, keeps them from climbing curtains, and scratching your furniture and they LOVE to play on them.;)

I only worry that since my apartment (1+den) is small, 2 cats may get into a lot of territorial fights.

Oh and to the moderators: :sorry: I didn't mean to post this multiple times. I kept getting an invalid thread error every time I tried to post. Then I wouldn't see the post up, so I tried a few more times. Didn't think that all of them would show up at one time.

Don't worry about the size of your place. I had two in an apartment smaller than yours for several months, and in my new place which is just slightly larger I have 4 indoors.

They might each have their favorite places to hang out, but I don't think you'll have a problem, especially if they are growing up together.

They are super cute though. Um...why not all three?:D

I agree with everybody else. Definatly get at least two!! But isnt hard to pick which one you wont take? why not take them all! lol the eye thing shouldnt be to serious. My cat was taken in as a stray and he had some sort of eye infection, few rounds of antibiotics cleared that right up! lol

I agree with everyone......medication will clear up the eyes and you definitely should get at least two. :thumbs up They are littermates so there won't be a problem with fighting.....in fact they will bond very closely. :cloud9:

Siblings don't usually have territorial issues and all you need is two cat stands for each to have their "own" place to rest.

There definetly will not be a territorial problem,not with siblings,no matter how small your place is.
I honestly do not think anybody should have just one cat and if you can get siblings,that's just great.
They will not ever be lonely,will always have each other and you'll have a great time watching them play and interact with each other.
There is a poor little girl-kitty a couple of houses from me,she sits in the window looking out,all the time,beeing alone a lot.
To add to that,she's also been declawed:yell:
She has a home which is great,but I still look at her sweet little face in the window and I feel sorry for her..:cat:
