I have this beautiful spider making it's home in my planter. Any idea what kind it is?

It is just so darn beautiful, I treat it like my pet :laughing: :cloud9:

LOL, my internet connection is so slow, but all I needed to see was the tip of the abdomen to recognize this beauty! You've got a lovely Yellow Garden Orbweaving Spider, [I]Argiope aurentia[/I] . Garden Spiders are very striking, and make some of the most interesting webs, often with elaborate sunbursts and zigzags called a "stabilimentum"; yours is making two vertical zigzags out of the centre point. Nice find!

You are right, the web is just as beautiful as the spider. Very successful in finding, ummmm, food in it's web :thumbs up

awww I love those ! I used to have 2-3 of them every summer when I had the pool , they would make their web between the pool and the patio deck. Since I took down the pool , I haven't seen any around :(

From tip to tip of legs 1.5 inches. I call it the "goldfinch of spiders" :cloud9:

L4H,he is beautiful,do what we did one year,a beautiful spider spun a web between 2 of my cedars,we called her Charlotte and put a little sign in front of it saying"Don't touch Charlottes web":laughing:
This was when my kids were young and all the neighborhood kids came to look at Charlotte:laughing:
