Very Hot House - Is it Safer for Unopened Canned Pet Food to be Stored in the Fridge?
I would appreciate your opinions, advice and experiences regarding finding out if it is safer to keep unopened cans of expensive special cat and dog foods in the fridge? (the cans are from the Vet, for particular ailments whereby some of my pets are on certain diets to treat their health issues). I live in an upper duplex and it has been very hot (94-96 degrees) and I am worried about these cans. Someone suggested keeping them in the fridge, but I need to know what you all think? Thankyou!

Definitely keep them in the fridge or they will go bad quickly. You can always warm them to room temp by heating them for a few seconds in the microwave before feeding. Be careful for hotspots in them that way though. Check them carefully before feeding. That's what I always did when I used canned dog food.

DD,I don't think it affects un-opened cans,I don't keep mine in the fridge,but we have central a/c.
Of course once the can is opened I would store it in the fridge. |
Oh geeze! I guess I should read better huh. Sorry, unopened I wouldn't worry about at all, just once they're opened. :wall: English 101 please....
