vomitting dog

Recently, my dog has been vomitting. The spell begins with her licking the air and trying to eat anything (i.e., carpet, tile floors, paper). After half and hour or so she vomits and then begins to excessively salvate. Normally, her chin is soaking wet with saliva. She vomits once or twice and then is finished for a week or so. What 's wrong? Could it be that she is ingesting something in the house?

My minature daschund has the same problem. We found out that the problem was caused by her anal sacs. It seems when the anal sacs don't express naturally they must be done at least once every other month or when you notice the described symptoms. This procedure is inexpensive to have done at the Vets or they can give you a picture description on how to express anal sacs yourself. This condition causes great distress and pain for the dog while the anal sacs are full and may become infected, but expressing them will increase the dogs comfort.
