Happy Rolph's Massacre (no pics or gory details in article)

Not sure if anyone has posted anything about this yet....but this is close to home for those of us in the Niagara Region. I hope the little *******s get what they deserve....but I doubt they will. My facebook status has been "they're not 'vandals'....they're murderers....and until all of us see it that way, the law never will. RIP beautiful creatures." since it happened. :( Hopefully as this is a place a lot of local mom's frequent with their children this will get more people up in arms about how lax the laws are for these situations. :fingerscr

:eek::eek::eek::cry::cry::cry::cry: you are so right, these are cold blooded murders and should be treated as sick individual (s) who will someday be murderers of humans.
:rip: animals :candle:

Just wanted to make a point regarding the comment by the dog walker. If coyotes had gotten the bunny, they wouldn't have joy killed it, they would have eaten it or taken it back to the den (unless something made them drop it). They don't kill for joy, they kill for survival.

These people need serious help, I agree.

Poor animals. :candle::rip:

I saw it on the news,it's just horrible,the kind of people who are walking amongst us:evil:
There was also a story about a cat,who had been shot with an arrow at close range,she was lucky,it went through her cheek and she recovered,my faith in human kind is eroding quickly..

NoahGrey June 6th, 2010 08:35 AM

Yes, HR's have two facebook pages that I am on. I hope these guys are caught.

14+kitties June 6th, 2010 08:53 AM

I am taking a giant leap here and assuming this was probably done by teens. If and when they are caught it would be nice to ask where they Hedoublehockeysticks the parents are. It seems these days more and more kids get away with so much. I am :confused:

cpietra16 June 6th, 2010 09:15 AM

I won't read it because I can't, and I don't think it is necessary to read it especially with your warning...I know what its about...all I need to say is that I hope they get the person and punish the person to the fullest, because a person that can be so cruel will eventually move to bigger helpless creatures, like children, and so one....sick sick people out there. I hope they do not make light of this.....

(written without having read the article.)

Sick pieces of crap. Justice to me would tie them up like a pinata and beat the hell out of them.

idiot senior:loser:

Frenchy June 6th, 2010 11:02 AM

Where the heck was security people when that happened ? :confused: :wall:

I hope who ever did that , will get arrested. They stole a baby goat so ... if they still have this animal, I hope people around them will be smart enough to put 2 and 2 together :frustrated: and call the police.

The parents are like so many nowadays not present.
Well when these sick individuals move on to there next target kids or adults the parents are going to say I never imagined my child could do something like this.
I hope whoever did this has the same thing happen to them.

Thanks for posting this krdahmer. The story has the whole Niagara Peninsula in outrage :mad: and is very disturbing.

Almost every school has had a class trip to this sanctuary and I myself have been twice with each of my daughters.

Earlier last week, it was reported that someone posted an add on Kijji for a goat for sale and the police stated that the add was fake. Personally, the person posting the add as a joke should have also been charged with some kind of misdemeanor charge or something. :mad:

As*&:censored:holes!

Posted in yesterdays local paper;

The stunning act of cruelty has mobilized people across Niagara. Many people are organizing an array of fundraising events over the next couple of weeks to help the city cover the cost of improved security at the north-end park.

Very little to none as far as security Frenchy. :(

Happy Rolph's

I so hope that little goat is found unharmed.

ancientgirl June 6th, 2010 06:37 PM

I don't know what is happening to this world. People are just getting heartless and so cruel.

I hope they catch these little :censored:. Until the laws step up and punish these people the way they should be punished, sadly things like this will continue to happen. A slap on the wrist doesn't deter people that would do these things. they will just do it again.

chico2 June 7th, 2010 06:44 AM

There was an animal carcass found in a garbage-bag,they could not confirm that it was the stolen goat,but believe it was.
I have not heard anything more:confused:

Our animal cruelty laws are a joke. I remember talking to a police officer when I was out on a call once. She mentioned that she charged this guy with animal cruelty. He had locked a cat in a tool box and threw it in his trunk and went to work. He was bragging about it at work, and someone called the police. Police showed up, found cat, barely alive. Guy came out and said he wanted to teach it a lesson, cause it was peeing all over the house. Police took him to court, she wanted a life time ban on animals for this guy. Judge called the case an isolated case and he got off free. Police said he walked out of the court smirking at her. She also said that she as heard that this was not the first time he commited acts of cruely on cats.

Our laws say exactly what we think/feel about animals.

I agree. What makes an animal's life less valuable than a human life? I'm sorry, but it's a life, and nobody had the right to take a life.

Oohhh, I'm so FLIPPING mad. :mad::mad::mad:

This was published in today's local paper;

I just sent the CAO of the city of St. Catharines, the below e-mail and Bcc'd the Review;

Subject: The Gift

Mr. Briggs:

I would normally say “Good evening” in my opening salutation however in this instance, I am deeply appalled with what I read in today’s Niagara Falls Review. The article was concerning the $225,000.00 bequeath left by the late Barbara Hallet to the City of St. Catharines specifically for the Happy Rolph Zoo which dated back to February, 2004.

Your statement of “people would have looked at me from like I was from the moon if I’d said I want to spend $50,000.00 to 100,000.00 on a security system when we’d never had an issue there” is absolutely preposterous. One would believe that this was not a matter of the city of St. Catharines spending the tax payer's money but a matter of the city depriving Ms. Hallet of her last wishes--her Will and Testament.

Further to this, "your beefing up security wasn’t on the radar screen previously because no one had ever broken into the park"-- adds insult to injury. Do you THINK that had the security system been in place, there would have been no incidents or with this recent break in, the culprits would have been caught already with surveillance equipment in place?

With your comments, one would believe that you are not an animal lover. I truly believe that with my outrage, anger and disgust in your decisions and comments, I probably am speaking on behalf of those of us who are.

Perhaps the citizens of St. Catharines should “withhold” paying their taxes in hopes that next year’s or the year after or after, etc., taxes will be lower to allow them to gather substantial interest amounts as well.

Truly disgusted,

Love4himies June 10th, 2010 06:58 AM

Good reply!!!!

I often wish that we could withhold tax money because of the stupid things our gov't does (or doesn't do :rolleyes:). The problem with out system, is that there is no consequences to poor decision making. If they want more money, they just increase taxes :rolleyes::rolleyes:. If they want to get into office, they just lie :mad:.

krdahmer June 10th, 2010 03:20 PM

Ya that is pretty sucky....that woman wanted to her money to help the animals and they just sit on it! :headslap: :frustrated:

We are planning one of our bake sales at work to help with some more donations for the critters. But man that really irks me that all along the money was there for them.
