My dog is exploding from both ends

Autumn has been sick since 3am. Vomitting, diarrhea, hasn't really drank too much, shaking, scared. We are on a watch and wait basis right now. Vet is not worried at this point about bloat since her vomit is productive. She's on a fast and perhaps tomorrow morning if she stops vomitting by then we can feed her some boiled hamburgr/rice.

I came home tonight and her crate was filled with vomit and the most offensive smelling poo ever. She also managed to spray two office walls as well. She was covered nose to tail in poo. Poor thing, she looks so pathetic right now.

Vibes would be most appreciated for my poor, sick girl.

Frenchy May 27th, 2008 07:44 PM

Oh no ! Won't she get dehydrated if she is not drinking enough ? Vet didn't say to give her Pedialite or something like that ? :o

:fingerscr hoping she just ate too much grass or something :goodvibes:

What is the color and consistency of her diarhea and vomit? Does it smell metalic at all?

Aw, poor Autumn. :grouphug:

:goodvibes: for a quick recovery!

KimandAutumn May 27th, 2008 10:23 PM

Poor thing. Even a spray down with the hose was not enough, we had to break out the shampooo. She smelled soo disgusting. Now she smells lovely (sweet pear and green apple).

I think she feels much better after getting cleaned up and her pillowcases are in the wash for her. She is just so pathetic looking.

So far, so good, she hasn't poo'd or vomitted since we've been home. I've got a batch of hamburger/rice ready for her in the morning if she's doing better. I felt so guilty as I was preparing it for her. She stood beside me, resting her chin on the counter, watching, waiting, drooling. :lovestruck:

MarleneW May 27th, 2008 10:31 PM

At least she still has her appetite, bless her. What way do you prepare the hamburger meat and rice? I don't add anything to it at all. :|

Good vibes to her and you! :)
:pray::fingerscr:goodvibes::grouphug:

hazelrunpack May 27th, 2008 10:32 PM

It's tough to make them fast...they just don't get why they can't have it NOW! I suppose it's a good sign that she has an appetite.

Our Ridge is sick tonight and being fasted now, too. She threw up her dinner and has had watery/mucussy diarrhea twice now since about 4 p.m. Sigh...if she's not better by morning, she has a reservation with the vet...

So we have a lot of empathy for you and sweet Autumn tonight. :o

KimandAutumn May 27th, 2008 11:49 PM

I boil the hamburger then rinse it off with water to get the fat off of it and boil the rice then mix everything together. Very simple and she likes it.

T'is the season! Seems like after a long winter of not being able to find all the rotten stuff under the snow, they get hit with an incredible urge to eat all the wrong things when the snow finally melts. :frustrated:

I hope Autumn is doing better today, KandA. :fingerscr Bailey, too, Frenchy! :fingerscr And that no one else joins the club :o

:goodvibes:

KimandAutumn May 28th, 2008 08:58 PM

Thanks all!! Miss Autumn is doing much better. She kept down her hamburger and rice for breakfast and supper and lunch time she managed to sneak about 7 meatballs off hubby's plate of mac & cheese and meatballs. Greedy girl!

Back to harrassing the cat. Poop smell gone from house... :)

ancientgirl May 29th, 2008 07:58 AM

I'm glad she's feeling better. Maybe she had like when people get that stomach bug.
