Looking for Siamese kitten/MTL

Siamese, Birman, Balinese or any mixture of those breeds. Must have blue eyes and any colour points. Female, and under 4 months old. Preferably good with other cats/dog.

Yeah, I know....I'll probably never find this in rescue, but it doesn't cost anything to ask!.:D

catsnatcher-CDN February 16th, 2006 02:30 PM

Check with the westmountcatlady... she may be able to help you.

cpietra16 February 16th, 2006 03:35 PM

There is one on the SPCA site. This cat was found , but she can wait a few days and it will be up for adoption, or she can go in and see if she can have him.

Lucky Rescue February 16th, 2006 05:17 PM

Where do you see this? I just checked the SPCA site and saw no kittens...?

cpietra16 February 16th, 2006 07:13 PM

She actually 1 year old. I guess it wouldn't be concidered a Kitten. My cats all lived to mre well in their 20's so when someone wants a kitten...I believe anything under 2 is a Kitten...here is the site

Lucky Rescue February 16th, 2006 11:32 PM

I know there are plenty in the US - even kittens, but not here it seems.
I assume this is for an approved adopter ? Or you ???
Yes, it's for me!! And I already approved myself.:D

cpietra, the cats at that shelter are gorgeous! I see there is a mother Siamese and her 5 month old kitten, but I couldn't take one and leave the other.:(

CyberKitten February 17th, 2006 03:04 AM

Lucky, don;t forget Siamese Rescue - they adopt their kittens all over North America. They recently actually took a kitty in from Mtl!!! Siameserescue.org/gallery.html Look at the Texas one first because they are much more open to adotption almost anywhere in the world. The cist is $150 US but for a meezer , already vetted and s/n and socialised, that is a prettu good price! There are even some that come with registration papers but I know that prob does not matter to you. There is one I beleivbe in the Yatrmouth area of NS - and their fee is something like $35 so more or less, you are looking at the transpotation costs and maybe we could organize our own meezer express. I have friends in Yarmoth and I would be glad to bring the kitty as far as northen NB/ Quebec border - have to check to see if that meezer is still available tho.

There is also rescuesiamese.com - not affiliated with us - in Manitoba and they only adminsiter the adoption of kittens out of province and do not display them on their web site. There is also - as I think you know - that group in Ontario.

Is this for you? You finally fell in love with meezers? (I know you liked the ones you fostered- mama and the the others).

CyberKitten February 17th, 2006 03:09 AM

Blue in Bathurst is still available (not a kitten tho):
http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=5746602 but what a cutie!!!http://www.petfinder.com/fotos/NB09/NB09.5746602-1-pn.jpg

I have considered Blue myself if she is not scooped up - no pun intended!

Yarmouth has a flame point and then there is

Maverick http://wwww.petfinder.com/fotos/ON45/ON45.4992790-1-x.jpg who is a gorgeous blue eyed chocolate point looking for someone just like you in Collingwood, Ont.

Sammy, a 5 yo Lilac Pt is avail in Vermont: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=5656362

There is another 6 mo old Seal Pt in Conn - I think if you don't take this one, a visit to Boston is in order for moi, lol Adorable and also named Blue: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=5813938

Tipper is in Texas: http://tx.siameserescue.org/Imagegallery/tx4671.jpg
(3 mos)

ASnd Tugger - named maybe bec he tugs at one's heartstings is also in Texas waiting for that forever home. http://tx.siameserescue.org/Imagegallery/tx4565.jpg he is an 8 mo snowshow
Wicjet is a 7 mo old Seal Pt , also in Tx: http://tx.siameserescue.org/Imagegallery/tx4566.jpg

And Robin is a 10 month old Seal Pt in Tn - but can be brought to Me by meezer express and we have ppl who can transport from Maine to the Maritimes: http://va.siameserescue.org/Imagegallery/va3981.jpg

Finally, Opheila is a blue pt - just over a yr old in Conn - which is not THAT far from Mtl: http://va.siameserescue.org/Imagegallery/va3958.jpg

And I just had to show you ll the pict if this unique Tabby (looks more like a Tortie to me but she is a meezer-tabby named Blossom: http://tx.siameserescue.org/Imagegallery/tx3915.jpg

Lucky Rescue February 17th, 2006 10:25 AM

Thanks CK! Have you ever seen so many beautiful cats? Siamese, Snowshoes, Balinese...incredible. All dumped, poor babies.

I must have a kitten, as it will be partly as a companion and playmate for my feral mommacat. She hates males and is frightened of adult cats, probably with good reason after living her life outside.

She is okay with female kittens, and she misses her best friend Stinkerbelle terribly.:(

I 'm on that site everyday and They get adopted out very fast....and they keep getting more in. Keep looking there.

happycats February 17th, 2006 11:56 AM

There is a siamese rescue in Oshawa Ontario, you may want to give them a call, http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/ON183.html

CyberKitten February 17th, 2006 05:25 PM

LR, do you have a long distance plan where you can call anywhere in North America without extra cost (other than your monthly fee)? Call the group in Manitoba and ask them if they have kittens - they will only adopt kittens out of province (I actually think they should be more progressive with older kitties since kittens are easier to find homes for, most of the time anyway). If you don't I do and can call for you to see of they have any available.... Let me know..... Their number is 204-255-6896 - they are called Rescue Siamese. (Note to mods - their phone number is on the net in several locations already and they do not mind it being published.)

And yep, it is so heartbreaking to see so many beautiful kitties who need homes - it is why my hackles go up even without my realizing when someone pops in here wanting to breed their purebred or moggie because s/he has such unique markings? Arrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhh But you know that story all too well!! I will keep my eye out for a kitten for you.

chico2 February 17th, 2006 05:34 PM

Wow,all these beautiful cats needing homes,so sad:sad:
Lucky,I am glad you decided to get a little Siamese of your own,you certainly deserve it and so does feral mommy, lonely after Tinks passing.
Good Luck!!
it is why my hackles go up even without my realizing when someone pops in here wanting to breed their purebred or moggie because s/he has such unique markings?
Yeah right. I just saw someone on Petfinder wanting to dump their 9 month old Bengal cat. It doesn't matter how much they pay for it, when they want it gone, it's history.

Anyway, I think I can get a Siamese kitten around here! But I'm in no hurry and if it happens or not, that's fate!:)

BMDLuver February 17th, 2006 06:33 PM

ahhhh, LR, didn't realize it's for you. I will advise PA at SPCA and they will earmark one when it comes in if you wish?

Lucky Rescue February 17th, 2006 07:40 PM

Sure, that would be great!:) Thanks.

I just thought I'd try and see what it feels like to get one I actually want for once!:D

CyberKitten February 17th, 2006 08:10 PM

I think you'll make a great meezer mama LR!! Abd you have already had some experience with the ones you cared for so you know you like them!!

This makes me think of my quest for YY - well for a meezer - I was at the time as you recall meezerless (not a happy situation for me). And really, I wanted to adopt a special needs meezer or one who needed help in some way but you know how it is with kitties - they adopt you, it is not the other way around. I went to visit the breeder only because she came highly recommended and had three babies that were available and as the offspring of champs (and all that goes with that), would not be there long. Indeed, YY had been "reserved" since she was determined to be Show Quality and thus the most expensive and exclusive of her sibs (according to the humans - cats might have something else to say tho admittedly, she knew even then she was a Diva!) but something happened in the interim and the person who had wanted her originally (a woman who is well known on the show circuit) had to bow out, not by choice. I went there with the notion of taking a look and gettiing out as quickly as possible, lol But from the moment we set eyes on one another - she blinked at me, I blinked at her and I bent down so I was at her level and talked to her and she motioned with her tiny paws (at 12 wks) to be picked up and I happily did so. She placed her right paw on my face - a sort iof unpsoken mode of communication between us that is one of endearment in her part and she still does it every morning! Her then meomy told me she had never done that before - she was well socialzed and liked people but she was definitely demonstraing her interest in me. I was smitten, love at first sight!! I asked them to give me an evening to think about it (and came back with a fleece blanket I had used in travelling so much that it had my smell in the event I did decided to "adopt" this baby so she would be at least accusstomed to my smell.

I thought it over all night - and it just seemed meant to be. My grandmother appeared in a dream that nite - no words spoken but I took that as an omen. (and pls don't think I am crazy but I have wondered if my grandmother in another life has had something to do with this - rationally, I don't believe that but there is some emotional part of me that does wonder but I have never admitted that thought to anyone 'till now so you can all decided once and for all that I am officially nuts, lol).

I called them first thing in the morning and then made arrangements - bought all the necessary kitten items I would need and then some. When I returned, she was ready to go - her mama gave her a lick and a promise but she was clearly at the stage of "OK, I have had enough of the motherng biz 24/7" and while she'd had lots of help from the very good breeder, seemed anxious to just relax. Which is not to suggest she did not miss YY - she had two Blue Points left. In retrospect, while one of her two Blue Point sibs was reserved, the other female was not and if I had to do it over, I would have adopted the two of them! (Given my now search for a Blue Point kitten or young cat). But atthe time -even tho I know 2 are often better than one - I wondered if I had time for more than one baby and already had booked a week off to care for the new baby!

After her sibs said goodbye - in their own playful way (I doubt they knew she was leaving for good but you never know) and her mama gave her one more kiss on the top of her tiny head, she herself marched into my brand new cat carrier!! (Granted, we had placed the fleeze blanket which she had liked, into the carrier). Two friends had come with me for the big event and we took pictures of course - had to document YY leaving and embarking on her new life of adventure - exchanged emails so we could keep in touch and YY came with me. She never complained or whined at all in the car and travelled some 4 hours on a train with me - the conductors (some of whom know me) let me hang out in the car with her and they all fell in love with her. If I had known I'd be coming home with a baby, I'd have travelled by car but I like the train on occasion because I can catch up on report writing and don;t have to watch the road.

Anyway - the rest as they say is history - she settled in as if she had livedwith me forever. When I awoke the morning after I had brought her home, she was playing with one of the toys from the carrier - I had placed the carrier on the bed and let her come out when she chose - which was almost immediately - and she cuddled and slept next to me that same nite. It was meant to be and th moral of this long narrative is that (and I do realize you know this so well LR) is that when you find the meezer for you, you and the lucky kitty will know it!!!

Good luck!!!!! As noted previously, I will keep my eyes open for meezer kits.
:)

Lucky Rescue February 17th, 2006 10:19 PM

Cute story, CK!:) I guess it was meant to be.

Actually, I want a Birman kitten, but forget it in rescue. There is ONE on Petfinder and it's in California.:( Siamese are much easier to get.

I even contacted a highly reputable Birman breeder in the last few weeks, but decided against it ultimately. I thought that breed would be good since they are known to be gentle and sweet, just what my feral mommacat needs!

You're right - I got hooked when I fostered the two Siamese here. The only reason I didn't keep the kitten was because of Stinkerbell - terrified of any and all cats and kittens!

We'll see. Que sera, sera.:p

Lucky Rescue...there is a 5 month old in todays site that you may want to have a look at.She's cute, her name is Olivia

glasslass February 20th, 2006 09:46 PM

I love that name! Meezer! Lucky, I can almost hear the phones ringing from here. The word is out and everyone knows the lucky kitty couldn't have a better home waiting for her. I can't wait to see this thread develop!

Lucky Rescue February 20th, 2006 09:52 PM

Olivia is precious! But I looked up that place on Mapquest and it's a 12 hour drive one way.:(

cpietra16 February 20th, 2006 09:55 PM

Lucky Rescue...I am sure there is some sort of relay from there to here. I know when I thought my cat was near North Bay , they said they had connections where I could meet them 1/4 of the way. Just call and find out if they can get her closer so that you can pick her up.

Lucky Rescue February 20th, 2006 10:03 PM

Thanks cpietra. I'll keep checking that site, but I really need a younger kitten for my feral cat.:(

She only likes babies and is fearful of kittens older than around 12 weeks.

If it were for me only, I would LOVE to have Olivia. I love that name too!!:)

cpietra16 February 20th, 2006 10:12 PM

I understand dynamics....I'll keep looking too. We'll find an Olivia for your ferrel:D

Lucky Rescue February 20th, 2006 10:24 PM

I know it's going to be very hard to find a Siamese kitten 12 weeks or under, but I'm willing to wait as long as it takes!:) I've waited all my life to have a purebred cat, so a few months more don't matter.

A baby that age will have a much easier time adjusting to my dog and cats as well.

cpietra16 March 16th, 2006 09:22 PM

LR I usually check this site for my lost cat...anyway here's the site..look under pets...cats for sale/give away. There's a guy giving away his purebred chocolate point himalayan. I don't know what they look like but there are people on that site that are always giving cats/kittens away... http://www.myzer.com/

BMDLuver March 16th, 2006 09:26 PM

We've got everyone working on it for you LR! One will come soon as here comes kitten dumping season.
