XP crashed due to virus, hoping to get bookmarks back?

Hey everyone,

Hope someone can help me. Took my laptop in to TigerDirect on Saturday to be fixed. Norton 360 expired and stopped working. Virus killed my internet connection and windows firewall. They tried for 2 days to get rid of the virus but no luck so they are just going to re-install XP. They called and I asked them to save some files but I forgot to tell them about my firefox bookmarks. I think it might be too late to call them and let them know but will try as soon as they open. But if it is too late, is there any way possible that my bookmarks can be found again after they re-install XP?:pray:

dollface, installing xp again isn't going to solve the problem. The virus is still there. They will need to completely blank your harddrive, then re-install and immediately run an antivirus. And yup your bookmarks will all be gone.

I think they do mean reformatting the harddrive, and there would be no way to get my bookmarks back.

But I just called them and they said they will back up everything under my User profile, just to be safe! Thank you TigerDirect for slacking lol

And thank you aslan for replying! :goodvibes:

The next thing you want to make sure of is--DO NOT re-new or reinstall Norton! :yuck:

Years ago, Norton use to be good but now its such a memory hog that it sucks the life, memory and ram out of your computer.

Try a different anti-virus such as Micro Trend or AVG. I installed AVG onto my XP and the best thing is--it's free and works great! :thumbs up

I actually had AVG and it was the best until they made you buy it! :yuck:

Norton did a good job but i didn't like it taking control of my windows firewall :yell:

But now that I know AVG is free again, I will be putting that on instead! Thanks KLM :goodvibes:

I've had AVG for years, they've never made you buy it.
I just hate Norton, never had anything but trouble with it.
